If it isn't blood fish and bone, it might be chicken poo. My dog goes mad for all of that so I don't even bother with anything but Tomorite now. Wonderful pics, thank you, zugenie. And good haul, I'm jealous! I wonder if their shipped potted roses would be as good? They have Minerva in stock...
That Proust rose is beautiful. I won't even Google it. I made the mistake of joining some French rose groups on FB and now my feed is filled with gorgeous roses I can't find for sale here. And yes, Nollie, I'm very impatient for the new roses to bloom. The trio of GJs, weeping standard and Tranquility are smothered in buds, but all I have from Chandos Beauty is a load of foliage so far- and Armada a smaller amount of foliage, slowly increasing- and there is much gnashing of teeth.:)
No new roses so just some buds and a Thumbling geranium I love whose flowers are smaller your fingernail and who is going to get totally swamped by summer flowers soon.
On the topic of Chandos Beauty - can I check if it would be ok if I pruned down one of the canes ( there are perhaps 3 or 4 good ones) by about half or more? There are 3 gorgeous flowers on it ( so I will let those do their thing for a bit) , but I didn't pay attention to direction of bud when i pruned in march - it is basically pointing straight out across the neighbours' front door ( london terrace with only a v low edging type boundary). On the upside, they get the best view and scent of the flowers, but although they haven't complained, it must be annoying to have to move it out of the way each time they go in.
(Edit to add-- Otherwise if this is a really bad idea then I'll just try and get a diy obelisk-type support set up and somehow try train it a bit less obstructively)
@Desi_in_London Not a problem at all, just cut it off where you want... I never let anything drift over to my neighbours. I would just cut the stem and pop it in a vase, although I recall they don't always open or last long in a vase, but that's what I would do.. In future I would always remove any stem that was going in a direction I didn't want it to go..Â
I've just had hail, more thunder and lightening, and torrential rain... I took this before when the sun was out..  time it warmed up a bit.. Let us hope for a flaming June.
..final view for end of May, from me.. otherwise, my favourite month.

I don't know what to recommend, I like a red rose by the front door (this is not my house).Â
