Agree about 'Gabriel Oak', it's a fabulous rose when it wants to be... like when you've had it long enough.. 'Ghislaine de Feligonde'.. 'Wilhelm'.. 'Sally Holmes'.. 'Armada' / 'Mme Lauriol de Barny' in the background.. still going, if a little thinned out.
I like to have at least a couple of weeks in the 20-25 range, to wear shorts and dresses and summer tops... I barely wore short-sleeved t-shirts this year so far.
Reds today and they are all truly red not what my phone identifies them as
Clkws from top left Royal William, Velvet Fragrance, Grafin Diana and Proper Job (agree it's a terrible name) Mainauduft not managing to disguise itself as Blush Noisette
On a trip to a garden centre yesterday, I unexpectedly took a shine to The Churchill Rose. Not a colour I've gone for before, but it realy stood out as the most lovely rose there. Regret not buying , but may now have found a space for it.... Which is a long way of asking : does anyone have it?, any thoughts, any pics, is it as good a rose as i imagine it to be?
Such gorgeous gardens, everyone! I can only show close-ups of blooms for now, as we haven't got a proper garden yet! 😅
I see everyone is enthusiastic about Darlow's Enigma, good to know i got such a famous rose! thank you @Marlorena for the advice back in spring, you were right, she seems incredibly tough! @Nollie i have her in full sun and she seems to be unfazed by it, the blooms last incredibly long and then fall away cleanly, she's still making lots of new buds!
@peteS gorgeous Open Arms, wow, i am now sorry that i didn't buy it last autumn. I was under the impression that it was smaller than the LoL, though🤔 I thought i needed a smaller, continually flowering rambler and had considered OA, but finally i bought Sunny Siluetta, a Kordes new creation. It is joyful and very floriferous, but the dry blooms are completely hard to remove, even with my hand, the petals don't fall off, i have to snap each tiny bloom away and this is very hard to do, especially as the individual blooms don't last long! So actually it is hard to get a pretty overall look. i am not sure if i will keep it.
Hi all, not had much time to garden this week. But I popped out this morning to do some deadheading and also to trim Malvern Hills. Too many downward facing shoots above the door. Was getting hard to shut it. Plus every time we opened the door we were getting showered with confetti from the petals! 😄
