@Fire I have tried Organic neem oil and soap (both supposed to be used only for plants) when I used to have rose plants indoor.. It does work, but then you need to make sure you made contact with the aphid and you will have to repeat it soon.. like in 2 weeks time.. Not sure how you will spray them effectively when you have a lot of roses to cover.. I am not sure if it was me, but I did kill my first 'Scentimental' by spraying (overspraying)..Â
@dabolem another option would be Twilight zone.. repeat flowering and like the smokey purple colour.. Going by Tack's pic, I would say its similar to Ebbtide in habit, i.e no shrubby shape like old roses/ Austins, minus the strong scent (get a feeling Ebb Tide has a stronger scent).. if you have high temps, then you will definitely have crisped edges on this one...
Clockwise from left: Frilly Cuff with Brodure Abricot, Walferdange, Gruss an Aachen, Korresia, Katharina Zeimet with its brown bits, unknown (this rose is continuously in flower throughout the season, though it gets BS), Louis de Funes with its crispy edges, LoS with Papa Meilland in the centre.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Your Gruss an Aachen looks very different to mine Eustace I wonder if I have another mislabel? With Ruby Mella. The foliage of GaA had mildew but is getting over it.Edit; is yours a typical bloom @Eustace? It looks very white and the petals very quilled compared to the photos on HMF.

@Tack, mine is in its first year; so it could be an atypical bloom. I bought it bareroot from PB. I'll wait and see how it performs for the rest of this season and next.

I hope someone can give me some advice, or reassurance regarding my Generous Gardener. We went to Australia in mid March when it had all this lovely new growth. We came back at the end of April and it has not really recovered from 6 weeks of neglect since. I know it was very dry while we were away but I have given it lots of water since. I can see that there are some glimmers of a new shoot at the base so hopefully it will recover but what should I do in the meantime. There are no signs of any buds the flower in the 2nd picture is its neighbour.Â
This is a post I made earlier. Any advice would be appreciated.Â
You go away for two days, and nearly miss the bud you have been waiting for to open! This was supposed to be Twilight zone, it's not, but what it is, well maybe Arthur Bell? The other strange behaviour is my Sheila's Perfumed. In this picture you can see a regular shaped flower at the bottom, and what has appeared this year at the top. Today I realised the regular shape have more perfume too. And yes they are on the same stem! Excuse the need to dead head 😊 they have just flowered their heads off😆
i will try and keep you updated about my roses, Tack, but they are all young and actually with this hot weather there’s only Desprez a fleur jaunes with some bloom.
I am searching for blue/purple roses because I realized I have a lot of pink and white in my garden and patio so I absolutely need something to diversify and highlight everything. I will be planting loads of blue and purple perennials and trying to have a spot with yellows and oranges too.
I am definitely going to get Blue for you, Rhapsody in blue and give a try to Ebb tide.
One of theese three is to be planted in a somewhat shady area, where there will be only morning sun till about noon and then no sun at all, even if it’s a bright corner.
In your opinion, which one could do better in that corner?
edit to add thanks to @cooldoc too, I will take a look to Twilight zone
