Lovely to see the roses coming on everyone, still feels like a very slow burn this year but a bit of action today..
Excellenz von Shubert, had a pleasant but nothing special fragrance last year, but this year a really strong scent is wafting from just one small bloom. The bush is busting with tiny buds:
Stormy Weather, a bit streaky and untypical:
The Prince looking high-centred and HTish pre-opening. Should really be called The Chameleon:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
..that 'Excellenz von Schubert' is a real winner... It seems to have got mixed up with 'Gartendirektor Otto Linne'.. yet it looks nothing like it, apart from the foliage which is similar.
That prince is beautiful 😍. some heat is also expected this week in our region so I expect that things will accelerate .
Just when I’m on business travel..
my troubled pink cloud opening as the first . GdF also throwing out a large basal My dear OH has removed some Geraniums that were creeping too close towards Ab Fab and walferdange .😀😍
I expect that Gret’s Joy will be second in the line for colour in the garden.
Malvern show was enjoyable, I brought 6 clematis, 2 geums and a wallflower! Very disapointing lack of roses though, just none on stalls! C&k jones had a stand but disappointingly whilst pretty their display was all greenhouse only roses you couldnt get anyway! Annoyingly ive messed up the stand pic but heres a couple of close ups. Miss piggy Lots of lovely tulips though Came home to this!
..glad you had a nice time @JessicaS .. all those lovely tulips and I like the Windmill, and just look at those racemes on your Wisteria - huge !.
@Lizzie27 .. yes it's one of Peter Beales's roses, I've often looked it up.. next time I visit their garden I'll see if it's there.. enjoy your holiday !..
@cooldoc .. nice to see you're getting some help.. I've not seen too many sparrows so far, oddly.
@Imprevu .. I see you get some mildew as well, but your Gde F is doing great.
'The Prince' is rather charming.. Mr Austin obviously thought the same..
Thought I'd do a May video before the roses start bursting with blooms. Feel free to turn down the volume. I'm running out of royalty free music to use in these videos. Just assumed you'd rather not spend 4 minutes listening to the incessant squeaking of the neighbours dog with its chew toy!
This video is focussed on a few of the roses up close rather than the whole garden.
