@Nollie -- ETA in this context is edit to add @cooldoc - no dieback here either this season for chandos beauty ( there was some on one cane on the newly planted bare root in jan 2021).
@Eustace, yes my Darcy Bussell is nice and upright, if prone to BS. Interesting that Charlotte has escaped the DA droop too, how is her health and fragrance?
Charlotte has a mild/light fragrance to smell-challenged me. The shrub is healthy and upright; no octopus canes. The small petals that form the inner circles of the bloom and the button-eye are very captivating.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
After the heavy rain it gives the opportunity to take stock of what stands up to it and what doesn't and I'm afraid 'Champagne Moment' is a loser.. horrible !.. 'Tall Story'.. a good semi climbing white rose, that opens yellow.. 'Frilly Cuff'.. unfazed.. 'Armada'.. weatherproof..
'Gabriel Oak'.. worth growing next to a seat.. ..as is 'The Anniversary Rose'.. stood up well to the torrential rain.. 'Sally Holmes' is such a beautiful single.. 'Golden Beauty' / 'Sally Holmes' in the background..
Your Armada Clem obelisk is just gorgeous Marlorena.
Nollie I so want that Love Song but it is too big for a pot I think and I have nowhere to put it.
Actually I am a little overwhelmed by the roses, as you know I am fairly new to it and I have a lot which are all maturing at the same time. The whole garden is just delight after delight, I can't believe they're mine.
Did any of you sent your pics to GW garden competition?
Marlorena's roses and perennial/ annual combinations are fantastic.. well this year everyone's garden look good...
Finally some sunshine and the roses are smelling incredible..
Bring me some Sunshine, Scepter'd Isle.. all strongly scented Myrrh.. Not my prefered scent but kinda grows on me.. Now I know what @Marlorena meant by Myrrh fragrance.. I feel Julia Child and Summer romance has a similar scent..
Where is the Apricot/orange shade in this??
Scepter'd Isle.. more refined scent.. compared to other Myrrh scented ones.. more like liquorice I think..
So far, not a strong scent from Elizabeth.. and blooms are small..
Anyone knows if this beetle is not good for roses? could'nt get a better shot as it had its head burrowed inside.. it had a shiny brown colour to it..
DA's are all hype and marketing aren't they....  what I'm pleased about is the rain resistance shown by the opening buds, not a blemish and I've had it bad here, enough to rot most things.. mine aren't quite open yet.. but colour and scent improves with age. I do see some butterscotch centre going on..
..thanks for comments.. I've been quietly admiring [jealous].. all your fabulous roses and garden views the last few days..
@cooldoc I can't remember what that is, I've seen them here and recall checking it out once and thought it was benign, so that was that....
