That’s the problem with different registered names for the same rose @murasaki. Confession time, I actually bought my Palais Biron as Purple Lodge but it has never been purple for me so I prefer to use the other name!
@Imprevu I don’t have it, but Novalis (also known as Poseidon) does have a mixed reputation with poor rain resistance. Have a look at Love Song for a similar colour, I’m very pleased with mine. Another lavender rose I would love to have if space permitted is the climber Quicksilver, but it only seems to be available from Rose Barni, Italy.
Heidi Klum has her scent back! Wow, pretty instant results after bunging in a load of soluble sulphate of potash and magnesium yesterday. This was a tip from ‘the Chicago lady’ you may have heard @Marlorena and I talk about. It’s pleasant but not strong, which vaguely agrees with my recollection. Will be interesting to see if it lasts..
Same rose I posted yesterday, Folle Courtisane rather cutely closes her petals overnight, here just opening again for the morning:
Excellenz von Schubert starting a second flush, although the first one didn’t really end:
Julia Child, yesterday - first photo in strong midday sun then the others at sundown. Some blooms developing a distinct ruffled look..
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@murasaki and @Nollie Thank you for the feedback regarding Novalis, so it is out . Certainly if it has mixed reviews regarding rain resistance .what it can do certainly here in Belgium.
That Heidi Klum is really vibrant and I like the combination with the dark purple of that salvia !
I must say also impressed with the pictures of Harlow Carr.Â
has anyone already seen a pink GdF in real life?  I ‘m rather curious after that one .Â
Is it as quirky as the original one?Â
My guirlande with the one cane that was dying  is doing odd.one half of the plant is sick and the other one is vigorous . I lost already 1/2 of the plant . But at the same time it is throwing out new growth at the healthy side. I have given it some liquid feed this week to see it perks up … but I really have no clue what is wrong with it. The only thing that I can imagine that something has eaten roots…
Looking immaculate Nollie, such nice pictures of lovely roses. Interesting about Heidi's scent too. Mine will flower soon, one of my last.
I am cross too newbie77 and cooldoc about Bring Me Sunshine being yellower than the initial pictures from DA indicated but now the bloom has opened the colour is stronger, perhaps it will deepen later in the summer.
BMS and Seedling 2
I didn't risk Dames de Chen in the rain and pulled it under coverRain affects Rose de Rescht not at all, Scarborough Fair behind also fine after shaking raindrops off
@Imprevu this is the second bloom on Novalis in two years, a puny sick one at that! the leaves seem to suffer from something too. it's not worth buying it, really, though i have seen lovely pics on the internet, maybe others have more luck.
I feel cooler must looking at the raindrops on your roses @Tack, we keep getting promised some but it never comes. Hmm, maybe it needs more time to develop those orangeade tones, but from everyone’s photos I’m struggling to see much difference between BMS IRL and a slew of previous Austin yellows. Reminds me of Charlotte.
Golden Celebration, more like Buff Celebration:
Lady of Shallot, smallish blooms and some frying. My fault, I moved her into full sun temporarily whilst sorting out some stuff and forgot to move her back!
Super Trooper is looking pleasingly orange and less coral just now:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
