Heres some more pictures of "I cant believe its not Ascot" stunning, very curious what it is! Scented too. @Marlorena They open more in sun, closing as sun going down. All buds opening look the same. Darker than in pics, more dark purple than pink. Night owl maybe?
@Rojas I too am growing Constance Spry but it's only in it's 2nd year and will have about half a dozen blooms on this summer. Could I ask how long has yours taken to become such an impressive sight. I don't think mine will be as vigorous as yours though as it is growing in bright shade rather than sun.
My summer flowering rambler Maria Lisa is under whelming . The bottom part below 1m50 is in bloom but on the laterals of the high main cane  above 2 meter) that is trained  fully horizontal since last year there is zero bud… I did not prune last year as recommended but this is just 😒.  So not sure if I will see still additional flowers in June …Â
Regarding that growing habit of Gdf  I have the perception it does not really like training .. I leave it more on its own instead of Guirlande what is for more easier and reacts better (Wichuraiana ) or is this just me…
Anyone has any experience with purple Eden? Or has heared something … a good friend wants to give it as a present but I do not know anything about that rose at all..
Gorgeous @pitter-patter , I really hope you like Odyssey,mine has been so full of blooms since 1 May, just easing up now. Here with Ebb Tide and "Not Artemis"I trained Strawberry Hill from the outset @ciaranmcgrenera, but I think I will need to work harder to keep blooms low from now on. This is beginning of 3rd season with me Proper job just caught the evening light when I was photographing Dames de ChenonceauLooking the other way before I moved Scarborough Fair. DdeC on right, Rose de Rescht left and Utopia behind. Burgundy Ice far back right, Rhapsodyin Blue back leftMme. Isaac Pereire, also MunsteadW, Eglantyne, Malvern Hills, Wollerton OH far back
@pitter-patter lovely photo of Munstead Wood. I can’t capture the colour correctly with my camera. I’ve tried every different mode and picture setting on it and just can’t get it.
@Marlorena - interesting observations of Elizabeth.Â
I’m back from short trip away. Haven’t missed too much in the garden it seems. Although Rhapsody in Blue has almost completely collapsed, must have had heavy rain here too. I’ll have to sort it out tomorrow.
@Mr. Vine Eye  Malvern Hills is gorgeous as always. My phone camera doesn’t seem to be able to catch the colour of Gabriel Oak.Â
@JessicaS Is does look like my Night Owl as well.Â
I’ve planted a clematis Ernst Markham next to my Starlight Symphony Rose. I’m not sure it was a good idea; it might look good in the first few years, but I’m afraid the clematis might be too vigorous in the end.
Is there such thing as a successful mature rose + mature clematis combination?
I bought this rose as a potted plant in spring, it is supposed to be Madame Alfred Carriere, but I now have doubts about it, seeing the two flowers that have just opened. They don't look much like Madame i have seen in photos. Very little scent too. At first tinged with rose, then completely white. Please let me know what you think.Â

they can make things confusing …Â
..yes I agree with you, I'd say that was 'Night Owl', as the foliage looks correct for that rose too.. I've just checked it..
Lots of lovely roses and great views... !.. some really gorgeous ones tonight..Â
