Can you plonk an obelisk over a young established rose?

Some lovely colours in Edhelka's garden ther. My tulips were fab this year but have finished now and I really miss them.

@edhelka Lovely garden. Superb colour combinations and placement of plants.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

@Nollie - mine's Gabriel Oak. It still looks like I've only just planted it!

Nollie, mine is Papa Meilland. I assume I planted it too close to other roses. After two years it’s about three inches tall. I’m amazed it’s still alive. Not known for disease resistance. Probably the wrong rose for me anyway. If it does have RRD I’m thinking it will recover in a few years. Worth a punt. It’s in a tricky spot.

Funny isn’t it? There is no logical reason sometimes why a rose fails to thrive. SdSA is in really good soil, well watered and fed, no rose been there before…

@Marlorena when I asked in here about the supposedly thornless GdeF (as per DA), I think someone, may be @Mr. Vine Eye told me that it is not the case, especially the small thorns which seem to be present in the branches.
