That's lovely @WonkyWomble. My children would pick Cowslips sometimes but in France Mother's Day is the end of May so I would be given flowers and home made cards then.
Then gardening. The strip along the donkey paddock fence needs turning into a proper border. I planted group 3 clematis and fuchsias along it and a honeysuckle at the end but it would make it easier to mow if all the grass were cleared and the edge made straight and tidy. I also have 6 foxgloves to plant. It's the only dappled shade place in the garden.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Meant to put "Church, then gardening" above. I was given a white viola in Church this morning for Mother's Day. We prayed for the Ukrainian mothers. What a nightmare they are going through.

@punkdoc - Yellow Brick Road is the best Elton John Album! When it came out, years ago, I was staying at the Manor recording studios in Oxford. We had that on in the kitchen all the time. And Diamond Dogs. Ah, happy days. Primroses for Mothers' Day - lovely. My Mothers' Day gift was last week as daughterperson (who she refers to herself) away this weekend. White fringed tulips and tiny multi-headed narcissi. You are not supposed to put daffodils with other flowers in a vase as they kill them I have just read. But these worked OK. Having a lazy day today.
Afternoon all, beautifully sunny again today so making the most of it after opening cards and presies. Lovely chocs to enjoy later. Started by spraying Patio Magic on most of the paving as I found half a container full left in the greenhouse so thought I'd use it while the temperatures were still warm. Then I dug up a clump of Iris unguicularis which has never flowered and has now been shaded out and will move it into a sunnier spot. Another difficult big clump - I never learn! After that I want to water two flower beds before mulching them with leafmould.
I think that will be quite enough for the day. OH continuing to improve, still has a slight cough but overall ok. Fingers crossed he's over the worst by now. Wonder how Hostafan is feeling, hope he's okay and anybody else who has it.
I love primroses Dove, my garden here is covered with them - all descending from wild plants from my late Mum's semi woodland garden. They do spread very easily however and are now mixing with fritillaries in the 'orchard' area. White violas sound very pretty @Busy-Lizzie and a bit different. There is a small patch of wild white violets at the side of the footpath I walk along every morning - just beautiful.
Hey Hosta - hope it only makes you sleepy and the same for hubby. Sleep can only do you good.
Spent a couple of hours in the garden today, got a few plants that I've had in pots all winter into the ground - hardy perennials so not worried about the frosts forecast for next week. It always snows in April. They were beginning to climb out of the pots so well past time they went out (should have done it in the autumn but never mind).
Managed to blank Mother's Day from my mind, anyway.

Sleep is one of the very best medicines @Hostafan1 so make the most of it. Another lovely day here, I received a flowering Cherry tree and a lovely card for Mother's day. Also a delivery came this morning for daughter from her two eldest children and the partner of one of them (and their little dog!) of a beautiful mixed bunch of roses, accompanied by some random flowers and greenery, chocolates plus a teddy holding a pretty card. Then her young teenage son gave her some more choccies and a card. I'm looking forward to helping her taste some of the chocs later this evening. Yesterday on my trip down to the local village shop in my old Landrover I spotted a large collection of tractors and a couple of old Landy's in one of the fields. Found out that they were doing an organised 'drive' in aid of prostrate cancer. Local farmers often organise these drives/meets throughout the summer in aid of various charities or for medical support groups. While I was down at the shop they came passed on the start of their drive, the smallest tractors first to set the pace, followed by what seemed to larger and larger ones, all clean and shiny and many decked with balloons - some 20+ vehicles. The farmers had taken so much trouble to make the vehicles look smart. It was quite a sight.

An hour lost! Skates on. A Happy Mother's Day to you in the UK.
Enjoy your day
