Afternoon everyone, it’s still cloudy here but the sun is trying and it feels warmer than earlier,
LB Pleased your aches have eased, I hope the stuff has made way for some gardening opportunities 😊
Hazel Sorry to hear you have rain, hope you’ve found something enjoyable to do, are you still knitting?
Biglad Hope you will be promising  yourself something at the end of this work contract as a reward for lost garden time 😉
    Have a nice afternoon everyone.

Hello all ... a busy few days here as OH has been at home and free to wear his Under Gardener's hat ... lots has been done, tidying and sorting, blueberries have been repotted etc, and the mint (in big sunken pots) has been dug up, refreshed and replanted.  We've had a trip to the GC for compost and need to do another one later in the week.  I've sown some seeds, taken pelargonium cuttings, brought the dahlia tubers out of the garage and done that sort of thing ... however the one big job we had planned which was repotting the huge cannas etc that spend the winter sheltering in the corner of the terrace (they're too big to lift into the garage) cannot be done ... just in time we spotted a birds nest right behind them ... so they'll just get a dose of FB&B and lots of tomato feed and theyll have to cope as best they can with that.

Hope all poorly ones are okay-ish ... don't overdo it, even if it is spring.  It's early as yet...

    Another warm day in Dordogne.

I had to do some admin this morning now that I have a working Laptop again.

This afternoon I planted 11 foxgloves and 2 cyclamen coum. I sprayed the drive with vinegar and salt. Glyphosate has been banned in France. I wonder if it will work. Has anyone used Vinegar and salt as a weed killer?

I like salt and vinegar on chips but not tried as a weed killer! Let us know how you get on.
Lovely day yesterday gardening then a houseful of kids and grandchildren. Oldest daughter made a cake and we all had a chat. Very relaxed.
Today work was ok and I have sister and a friend coming for tea. Vegetarian cottage pie made and I bought a trifle.
Fiancé is in Bristol working for a few days so I have to keep busy.

Good evening all. It is great to have a day in the garden but I am feeling a bit creaky now. Had a nice chat with my neighbour over the fence. He and his partner are going to their place in France for a week at Easter. Busy, he was telling me the hoops he has had to jump through to get a septic tank installed but it looks like it is going ahead now.
By the way, I do not think it is a good idea to use salt and vinegar to kill weeds. Both those chemicals are not good for micro organisms living in the soil and they will leach into the soil from the drive and upset the ecosystem. I managed to get some glyphosate free weed killer at 'sco the other day.
Biglad, good luck with the sweet peas. Its good to hear that you can fit in a little bit of gardening here and there - not totally confined to barracks!
Dove, good job you spotted the nest.
Ruby, what did you plant into your bed? I cut a large branch off my Clethra today as it was starting to hog the space and I got some Selinum plants put into the ground.
Debs, it sounds as though your Mother's Day was wonderful and time for another nice chat today with your sis and friend.

The drive slopes down to the road, grass each side, not part of the flower garden. All the weedkiller here now seems to be acid based, like vinegar.

Evening all. Made it to Tummel Valley which is about 10 miles west of Pitlochry. The weather has been very 'Northern' today - ie 4 seasons in the space of a few hours.

Started off dry but cold and we went to Mainsgill Farm Shop for a full English. I stayed on after OH set off and did some light shopping. By the time I came out it was absolutely pouring down. Then it was warmer but misty and finally the clouds cleared and it was warm sunshine. Difficult to know what to wear! Forecast for the rest of the week is not great but I'm sure we'll cope.

Rubee - just seen your posting about your clemmies. What a lovely Mother's Day gift from our Rosie BB. Looking forward to some summer photos.

Just watched Uni Challenge. We're now at the stage of the competition where I don't even understand a lot of the questions let alone know the answers....

Well done spotting the bird's nest Dove. I had to time the hard cut back of one of my eleagnus very carefully this year. Last 2 years the blackbirds made a home deep in the bush before I got round to pruning it and it was seriously overdue a major haircut. I've left the Viburnum Tinus next to it unpruned so they've still got a nice big bush with deep cover for nesting this spring. The wrens and robins usually use it so they'll have to divvy up the space themselves🙂
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
