    Morning all.

Raining here, not heavy at the moment.

Sad to say goodbye to the allotment @debs64 but it will be less stressful for you.

I have been watching the News in bed, don't like to talk politics here, but it is so serious. So awful for Ukraine.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Morning everyone,
Absolutely throwing it down here and feels colder this morning. I've turned the heating back up.
@debs64 must have been a day of mixed emotions yesterday.  A sad day, but lots of happy memories. You now have 'new flowers for your garden to remind you too. Sounds like you had a very busy day, hope you don't ache after digging them all up. Hope all goes well at work today.
@Ladybird4 enjoy your knit and natter today. Hope your friends daughter is feeling a bit better today.
    Hope you slept well @bluebellsintherain
I'm going to have tea and toast, see you later.
    Have a good day everyone

    Good morning all.

It's rain/snow showers/sunny spells here, set for the day, I think.

Best wishes for Chives' son's recovery and anyone not feeling too good today.

  • I have edited my post above- I'll look at my garden to take my mind off things.

    Afternoon all,

I've been putting my seeds in order over the last couple of days with a view to deciding what, where and how much I will be trying to grow.

Just had a look back at last year's spreadsheet (sorry folks - I'm quite a dull chap ;)) and feel that sowing some de cayenne seeds 3 days earlier than 2021 is the victory for the day :D

I sowed 35 tomato seeds and 33 germinated last year. I won't be making that mistake again!

I've placed another online order. I really need some good weather or a job to keep me off the laptop :o

Sunshine and very wintery showers here. One minute I'm looking outside thinking I'll go out for a bit. 10 minutes later I'm thinking that I never want to go outside again!

Good afternoon everybody. I had a great time with my Bestie today. I pruned her clematis and had a look at all her plant purchases - waiting to be potted on. She had fallen in love with a Viburnum tinus and a couple of Azaleas. We honestly couldn't stay outside long because it was absolutely Baltic in the wind and there were a few snow flurries. Once we retired indoors the knitting came out and we nattered for England. Her daughter wasn't there as she has covid so we had a phone call with her and despite the car upset she sounded very chirpy.
Biglad, I remember your glut of tomatoes last year. Good idea to cut back on the numbers.
I am pleased to report that I have got germination in all 7 of the mini propagators on my windowsill hotbed.l This means I will have some pricking out to do soon. If it stays as cold as today I might duck out of Canasta tomorrow. I noticed that my phone was reporting weather warnings for tonight and Friday. So far the weekend is looking more hopeful.
I had ordered a Ligularia to go in my bog of a back garden and it arrived today whilst I was at Bestie's. Bless my postie for tucking the package up near my back gate and wedging it in with a plant pot to keep it safe from the wind. Its still dormant in its pot so I am looking foward to seeing it emerge.

  • I'm pleased you've had such an enjoyable day with your friend Ladybird. I agree it's freezing outside. My walk this afternoon certainly blew any cobwebs away!

Afternoon all. We've had sun, rain, wind, hail and sleet today - a really mixed wintry bag.
Took one look at the driving rain this morning and decided that (as all the decorating 'stuff' is still out) I may as well paint the utility room (I am my own worst enemy). Think I can get away with just the one coat to hide a few scuffs and condensation marks. I'll do the skirting and architrave tomorrow and that'll be 2 rooms done in a week🥳 May yet wrestle the crown from Hazel but there's a way to go yet!

Really enjoyed the trip out yesterday. A good, interesting and very personal talk from Adam Frost. A lovely down to earth man who took the time to say hello to lots of people. Did my bit and relieved the plant stall of 2 Geranium "Brookside". Dormant at the moment but from the buds starting to break through they both look like sizeable (ie splittable) clumps. A bit cheaper than Beth Chatto's at £2 a pop! Unfortunately there was no cake 🤨 - just little pacs of biscuits. Suspect that was a Covid thing - there's usually a good selection.

Chive - sorry to hear your son has tested positive. I know quite a few people who've caught the lurgy in this current wave but they've all made a full and speedy recovery.

LB - Good to have a catch up with your Bestie. You may doing the right thing not going to Canasta tomorrow

Biglad - wotchu like you nerdy🤓? A spreadsheet for gardening? I have scraps of paper with scribbles on to remind me to do 'stuff' which are promptly lost and found a few months later when I have a good tidy up. Seriously though - well done for being so organised!

Yay - it's gone 6pm and not quite dark - al fresco evening G&T's are not too far away.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Chive it was Snowing this morning and then sunshine this afternoon.  Hazel I hope you enjoyed your trip out.  LB I’m glad you’ve enjoyed time with bestie, plenty to talk about, good to hear besties daughter was chirpy despite the covid.  Chive I hope your son is having a better day.  Lily I did a sm shop for milk am, didn’t sleep so popped to bed at Rubees.  Janet I hope the fresh air helped.  Hazel and Busy I echo your thoughts in the news.
