  • I have epilepsy, and over the years have found out one particular food item that actually not only reduces the number of seizures I have, but also reduces the severity of many other seizures.

    Milk chocolate.

So I set about testing out how much was best for me, and exactly which chocolate works best.

    But @pansyface , what a task! What a chore!!!

The result? An ordinary milk chocolate Yorkie (46g) every day. Too little, and it makes no difference to my seizures. Too much (and that turns out to be more than three), and the heat they generate, causes seizures.

Of course, I can't get these on prescription, but my consultant has it on my notes of the benefits I get.

The downside is that I'm gaining weight, and increasing my cholesterol. However, my GP recognises the benefits, and doesn't deter me from having it.

However, my dentist is not so optimistic about the long-term effects.

With you on the Jaffa cakes @pansyface - apart from OH's wholemeal cheese scones spread with my own Damson jam they're about the only cake/biscuits I really fall for  :D

I'm very curmudgeonly about Lidl's own jaffa cakes not being available for flippin' ages. Far superior to the Mc Vities form

Sorry to hear that, wild edges. I hope you feel better soon.🤒
The kids have both had it one after the other and bounced back really quickly. As long as it's not another month long chest infection I'll be grateful. My wife and clients have zero sympathy for illness. :|

The biggest problem I have with Jaffa Cakes is working out which pack option is the best value.  Our Co-op will have single packs with 12, double packs with 20, and triple packs with 27, and/or variations on those numbers.  I've seen offers of 2 x single packs for £2, double packs for £1.80 and triple packs for £2.50, all at the same time.  Next time in the pricing will have changed, and they no longer seem to have the price per 100 grammes or similar on the price tag on the shelf.  Fortunately I'm good at mental arithmetic, or i'd simply go mental trying to work things out.

How glad I am not to be a fan of Jaffa cakes!  In fact, the only biscuits I buy are Speculoos when I can't get or haven't made any ginger biscuits for my lemon cheesecake base.

Googled them @Obelixx are they the same as the biscoffs lotus we get here? They taste good but you don't half have to brush your teeth to get them out of the nooks and crannies!

I don't know @B3.  Haven't been to the UK for 7 years now.

They're a Belgian biscuit flavoured with ginger, cardamom and cinnamon.  Often accompanies a coffee in cafés and bistros.
