I just opened my last bag of sunflower hearts too. The price for 25kgs has gone up from £32 to £46 since I ordered in January :o  I think I'll be planting a bed of sunflowers this year.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    Not having a dog because.........
reminds me of a young girl/woman being interviewed on TV years ago at some Green demonstration, and she said she would never have children because the world is overpopulated.
I would love to see her situation now.
I used to occasionally say something similar when nosy people asked my why I wasn't having children and wouldn't leave it at "because I don't want to". These days I'm old enough that no-one expects me to start dropping sprogs :).

If anyone could have seen the programme the other night from the wildlife rescue centre in Alloa, with the girl, plus her two colleagues, getting 6 tiny red squirrels [plus another 2 later] hand reared from the size of mice,  to release stage in the Cairngorms, it might make them realise the amount of work involved in looking after animals - whether wild or pets.
It's definitely not just for Christmas.

It was a brilliant programme too  :)
Which channel was that on Fairygirl, I missed that?

It was the BBC Scotland channel @Uff . Tuesday night maybe? I think it was a repeat, so it might be on again in future, or you might be able to get it on a catch up or similar.  :)
Forgot to say - it was called Born to be Wild

You can get completely veggie dog food. When I met my second husband I had one of my long haired collies left, she was raised on vegetarian dog food,I was happy because I didn't eat animals either. I have 4 friends who don't have children,3 don't like them, the forth couldn't have them.

These posts should be in the RTBC thread. The red squirrel story in that programme was a joy to watch. Thank you for mentioning it Fairygirl.

    Apologies @Uff
I think I was sidetracked because of the 'pet' stuff. ;)

    Lovely wasn't it?

Yes it was Fairygirl. I loved the dedication of the staff too. I wish I lived nearer, I'd volunteer there in a heartbeat.

Lots of nice programmes on the Scotland channel @pansyface. Paul Murton's series are always good, and they're repeated regularly.  :)
If you have Sky, the repeats of Surgical Spirit are just as hilarious the 2nd time around :D
