Allotment Boy, I was told in store I could print off the vouchers. Managed to do it by finding the relevant pages -6 in all - instructed the printer to only print page 3, after blowing the picture up a bit as it was quite small, so only needed one piece of paper. The vouchers I’ve chosen are worth a sizeable £7.50, but I’ll have to go into the store to use them, as I’m not planning a delivery before they expire. Not an issue, as I’ll be popping in for milk soon, but it’ll be interesting to see whether the scanner can read them. I’ll report back!
To their credit, I love the Scan and shop system in Waitrose, quite a shock to the system in other stores when I have to load, unload, and reload the trolley. Always worried though, that I’ll forget where I am and start putting stuff straight into my shopping bags in a regular shop.

Looking at @Nanny Beach's post re sh*tty cars, and the others re dog sh*t, is it any wonder that many parts of the UK experienced moronic behaviour during the last couple of years when folk couldn't travel abroad?

You've been lucky re the washing machine @wild edges. Mine is knackered. The man is looking for a replacement for me. I had a horrible feeling that would be the case. I can't complain - it was here when we moved in 9 years ago, and had been trouble free until last year when he did a repair. Annoying though - I'd have been as well getting a new one then. Such is life.

However, when folk are losing everything, including their lives, in Ukraine, a bit of dirty washing is a mere blip in life.

Sorry @Nanny Beachi misread and thought it was your car he was servicing. I was confused as I think of you as a very fastidious person from your posts on here.

When we used to live near other people, one commonly used dog walk had homemade signs up at each end of the stretch of alleyway that was normally littered with both bagged and unbagged dog s**t. "The Dog Poo Fairy doesn't exist" with some really quite good children's drawings of said fairy. Not sure how much they improved matters but the dog bins nearby seemed to be fuller after the signs appeared

If you buy one new then make sure you get a decent warranty. A five year cover would have saved me a lot of hassle recently :|

That's OK Deb's, you're correct, I'm fussy, and very law abiding. My hubby is even worse. If there were double yellow lines,  no cars around, and it was safe to do so,I would stop and let, says elderly or young child out of the car,not him!!! Oh,no. In the past I've had an appointment somewhere have said,"just let me out here", him "I'm not stopping on yellow lines ".

A woman told me once that she always picks up and throws the poo bag in the hedge "Cos with biodegradable [she could have said degradable] bags, it's the greenest way" - can't even begin to fathom that thinking.

I should imagine the greenest way to get rid of dog poo is to take it home and bury it in a designated spot. I've also seen people flicking it into canals :#

Can't fault my dog, 9 times out of 10 he 'goes' a couple feet from the 'doggie bin' at the end of our walk.
Surely the greenest way is NOT having a dog?

I've been contemplating the same thing here. All my kid's favourite spots in the woods are surrounded by dog crap. I think it's a territorial thing for dogs to pick an obvious marker point to leave a 'message' for other dogs to read, but it inevitably means that every tree stump, or stream crossing, or large rock or whatever has a minefield of disgusting objects to maneuver kids around. I want to draw a map of our walk from a kid's perspective and show just how many piles of crap there are so people don't just think it's harmless to leave it there.

That's true if you buy a puppy. If the dog is already in existence, then keeping it in kennels is a less green option than it living in someone's home. The kennel consumes resources that are used for no other purpose than housing dogs. The dog owner's home is already built, lit, heated, so having another being living in it doesn't add to that. The food that a dog eats in a home may also be lower impact, depending if you think about it. All the highly processed tinned food and kibble consumes energy to make and produces a lot more err, waste, from the dog because it's full of bulking agents like ash. Generally that's all a kennel can afford to buy for the dogs kept there. If you kill the dog, you're still left with a waste disposal problem, especially when you consider how many dogs there are.

So no, not the greenest way. It is an argument for not buying puppies, for having dogs neutered and for only people who are willing or able to spend money on proper food and care being able to have a dog though
