It’s probably the fault of Brexit, @KT53. The EU might have afforded some protection against malevolent Americanisms but, as you say, very has been ejected by super. We can no longer give presents, they have to be gifted, and before I could contact someone but these days I have to reach out to them. Once mere liking something was acceptable but now I have to be loving it, and as it seems possible to train to places I await the day when it becomes acceptable to car to them as well.

being able to car to places won't happen until we have gotten used to other new terms!  "Winningest" is another that makes me want to thrown things at the telly or radio.

    "Winningest"

Oh - that's the worst one yet  :#
I'm happy to say I've not heard it before.

Alright. Gas prices are back down to the level they were at this time last year when my bills were half what they are now. It's been a very windy winter and all my electricity comes from wind power. But my bills aren't going down and the government is still having to pay my supplier to make a ridiculous profit. Can anyone explain how this works? Apparently my bill will stay the same but the government can probably stop wasting my taxes on paying the extra by about June. Why can't they demand the energy companies stop profiteering and spend the money on insulation grants and helpful things like that instead?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I thought it was worse than that - didn't they announce that the 'cap' was being upped from this Janto match an average usage of circa £4500 rather than £3500. Just googled it:

    Frankly @wild edges - it's a total sh*t show.  :/
We've not had the heating on for more than about 2 hours [at most] on any day this autumn/winter, yet the cost of that usage was about twice for the same amount a year ago.  It was hail/sleet and all sorts a little while ago, and the lounge is currently 15 degrees because I put it on for half an hour. We're wearing extra fleeces etc, and using blankets when hanging around.
The house is well insulated and I can afford to pay the bills, but it makes me furious. There's other things I'd rather be spending my money on.
How do they expect ordinary folk on lower wages, who are already struggling with rent/mortgage, and food increases, to cope?

We have been to Norwich Hospital for OH's lung function tests. I'm not sure why as last year they were excellent. They said they were a follow up.

We took the Park and Ride as the hospital car park is usually full. OH parked the car in the disabled parking where we caught the bus. When we came back the bus stopped at 2 places in the car park. Everyone had got out and the driver told us to. We said that we wanted to go to the stop where we got on as OH's car was in the disabled parking there. The driver said that was only a stop for getting on not for getting off and he would get into trouble if he took us there so we had to get off. It was almost further than OH could walk and he was in pain. The driver should have told us as the other stop was nearer. Why have a disabled parking there if they wouldn't take you back to it? I was furious.

PS. For those who don't know - OH has been waiting for a hip replacement for over 3 years, cancelled 6 times so far.

We went to the Garden Club meeting last night which is held in our local parish church. The loos were unavailable because some toerags had pinched the lead off the roof again. I blame not only them but the CofE who refuse to allow lead substitutes for church roofs.

My reply would be "No.  I will get it for you" assuming I was working in the cafe or similar establishment where you hear the phrase all the time.
