I think somebody 'Up there' is trying to tell me I was bad in a previous life. When I was in hospital for my hip replacement, I had a lovely private room but the sound on the TV was terrible. I literally couldn't make out what was being sent. Their maintenance people only work Monday to Friday other than for emergencies, and a duff TV doesn't fall into that category. Thankfully I had my Kindle so did a lot of reading. I came out of hospital Monday PM. Forward to today. About 10am the TV in my bedroom went blank but the sound continued. I had the same problem about 18 months ago and it was fixed under the John Lewis 5 year free warranty. The only downside is that it took 3 weeks to do. Contacted them and they will only repair, or attempt to, in the first instance. I don't have much leverage as the warranty is free. I've decided to bite the bullet and get another telly, it will be delivered tomorrow. If fixed, the other one can be kept as a spare.
@KT53, it may be something to do with BBC altering their channels (if that's the right word) to HD as we lost connection with BBC Two and Four since Monday night. My OH has tried this afternoon to get help from the BBC who said it's not their fault, it's Freesat. He then tried Freesat who put the blame on the BBC! Eventually he has given a phone number for Bush (the maker of the set boxes) and a very kind and patient guy talked him through the procedures to get it sorted. Bingo, it worked!
By the way, what on earth are you doing still in your bedroom! You should be out walking!!! Just joking, hope it all went well.
Hello @kt53 I'm glad you're op went well , I'm three weeks post op now and not doing too badly. The anti coagulants and compression stockings are the pits, can't wait to jettison both next week. Plenty of physio to do!
@Catherine Mansley I don't know if you can help but, for some reason, emails from GW suddenly stopped arriving about 2 months ago. The last 'Announcement' was Dec 22. I get on to this site via emails notifying me that someone has mentioned me. I'm here today because of @LunarSea's post on 12th Feb. Anything you can do? Thank you.
While clearing up after the stump-grinding men today, I found a distinctly "high", large, dead rat. It's very difficult to get rid of the memory of that smell...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

@floralies I'm only on Day5 if you exclude the day of the operation and everything seems to be going fine. Anti-coagulant tablets rather than injections and no compression stockings. Although I was out of bed on the day following the op I didn't have anything much in the way of physio in hospital beyond showing me how to get in and out of bed safely, us the walking frame and a couple of simple exercises. On Day2 I walked with sticks along the corridor, down and up stairs and decreed well enough to go home. I do have physio sessions lined up, so don't think I've just been dumped.
The biggest problem I have is the mattress on our bed. Very expensive, very comfortable and with a 2" thick memory foam top layer which can't be removed. Great when you're mobile, but like tying to move on a giant marshmallow when you aren't. I'm managing though and it is certainly making me work.

Nothing to do with BBC unfortunately. It's a repeat of the problem I had when the TV was only about 18 months old. John Lewis say they must have 3 attempts at a fix before they will consider other options. Annoying, but it is free 5 years cover.
My excuse for being in the bedroom is that I was told to keep my legs elevated as much as possible. The hip does get very still when I'm in a normal sitting position.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
