    I love wild animals, I just don't get " pets "
Pet ownership has definitely got beyond ridiculous in some cases particularly when the owner likes the idea but has no idea of what they are getting into. Irresponsible pet ownership can affect many of us at some time or another just as can irresponsible parenting.
However, think on that some folk may only have a pet ( whether it be dog, cat, snail, rat or WHY ) in their lives.  Living alone, no children, maybe no living relatives, not much contact with other people - their pet is possibly the only thing which keeps them going.
Fair enough that you don't "get" pets  -  there is no diktat which says you have to have one. I imagine there are many people who say they don't "get" children either but do accept that others may not feel the same.

I feel like that about my chocolate coloured cocker spaniel sometimes wild edges. He has the most beautiful eyes, is very pretty and loves me to bits but I could murder him some days. How he's reached the age of 7 I'll never know. His latest jape was to plunge into a heap of rotting manure and paddle in the effluent coming out of it.
You couldn't pay me enough to have another spaniel. My last dog was the same, Welsh Springer spaniel, lovely dog but could only scrape together enough intelligence to get into trouble and not enough to get out of it again.

That made me laugh out loud.  I know a few people like that too.

Maybe it's open on the weekend @KT53. ;)
We actually had that situation recently because they were re surfacing etc. The road was technically 'closed for three weeks' according to the signs, but it was open for use on weekends.

You could be right @Fairygirl, but wouldn't it have been clearer if they had said 'Closed 9th to 16th, weekdays only or Mon-Fri only?  It's actually only closed for one week 9th-16th, but I'll let you off as it's (a) Friday and (b) it obviously did confuse you too. :D

That would require someone at the council, with common sense, using the correct signage though @KT53... ;)

    I totally agree with you.
Some folk don't "get" gardening , or music, or going on holiday.

If anyone could have seen the programme the other night from the wildlife rescue centre in Alloa, with the girl, plus her two colleagues, getting 6 tiny red squirrels [plus another 2 later] hand reared from the size of mice,  to release stage in the Cairngorms, it might make them realise the amount of work involved in looking after animals - whether wild or pets.
It's definitely not just for Christmas.

It was a brilliant programme too  :)

That's about it in a nutshell @Hostafan1 -  we all have our needs one way or another.

Don't "get" gardening ????  Nah - never heard of that one :D

Gosh, just thought I'd better order more bird feed, sunflower hearts as the goldfinches are getting through it at a rate of knots.  It's gone up by £20 for 20kg since February.
I'm not surprised though as I believe most of it comes from Ukraine/Russia. Roumania etc.
