The star on my screen @KT53 is the palest of green. I reckon it depends on the monitor colours.

More likely individual settings.  Nothing along that bar has any colour on my monitor, with the exception of on of the add blockers which is red.

The star I see on Firefox isn't coloured, but is in the same location as shown by JennyJ

I use Firefox on a laptop under Linux, and the star outline is coloured light green. It is not a green star per se (ie filled in green), but a star outlined in green. There are two stars - one against each topic heading (that is the green outline one here) potentially against/next to a cog wheel for Announcements, and a white star (that turns pink if you hover over it) in the main GW 'black background' heading bar. The pseudo green star has a hover text of 'Bookmark' and the white star has one of 'Bookmarks'.

  • If you click on that star indicated by Uff (on my computer at any rate), it becomes green, and allows you to bookmark the forum's discussions page.  When I clicked it, it asked me where I wanted the bookmark and I opted for the "tool bar" at the top of the page, which appears as soon as I open Google.  I have various sites which I regularly visit, bookmarked there.  It's very convenient to click on "Recent discussions" and immediately be able to see what's been posted since I last looked.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

AFAICS the green outline star appears 'inside' a topic and against the topic in the topic list. IE if you select Potting Shed, all the topics under that heading have an outline green star - if you then open one of the topics, that outline green star appears at the top of the comments. Both mark the topic as bookmarked (and go solid green when then checked) - and the white/pink star in the black GW heading shows you what you have bookmarked.

The blue stars in Firefox and Edge in my screenshot are blue because I'd clicked on it, so that page is in my favourites/bookmarks. It would be an "empty" star if not.

At the plant shop at Great Dixter, which was in a wooden shed with a low lintel over the door when I was last there, there is a sign which says "Duck or grouse".
