Prices of second hand cars have really gone up here. I'm told it's because of a shortage of assorted micro chips to complete the thousands and thousands of new cars sat in factory lots awaiting them for completion.
Doesn't bother us as we like to keep the car we know so we look after them and keep them as long as possible, barring idiots driving while playing with their mobile......

I never did get an answer to my why do men kick tyres? Some bounce the corner too. I believe that is to test the suspension.
I was selling a car once and a young lad brought his dad along to help check it over. Neither of them knew a thing about cars though. His dad tried the corner bounce and put a big dent in the wing where he pushed down. I think they bought the car out of guilt after that.
I took my father-in-law to be, to check over a house we hoped to buy. He stuck his penknife in the timber window frame (rotting), dug a piece of render from the door frame, and ripped the kitchen lino. We also felt guilty - and bought the house. Never asked for his opinion again.
No @Dovefromabove . Neither of my parents-in-law were into gardening. My own parents - now that's another matter!! That house - we bought back in 1988. Have been gone from it for 21 years.
Just passed on my 2007 Honda accord to eldest son as his just taken on a mortgage and his cars rear axle has failed and its £3000 or some silly price being asked for repairs and of course his now penniless . As now the wife no longer drives due to ill health I just use her car now for us both. Its a 2008 Honda Jazz a more reliable car you'll never find and only £185 to insure.
I did love my Accord as it would cruise all day down the French motorways a £23,000 one owner executive model car which I bought from a local Dr for £6000 with 14,000 miles on the clock. Its now only done 40,000 miles and son no:1 has been told to bring it back to me every 9000 miles and I'll service it as I've always done, will he , will he? will he hell. Kids eh..
Sorry this is of no interest to anyone I know but its nice to rant occasionally

So far as I know the phrase was "kick the tyres light the fires last one back is a sissy". This was a phrase used in WW11 as a derogatory comment about gung ho fighter pilots that usually got shot down fairly early on in their career. About time I had a rant! Hubby had his BP, meds doubled in December by GP, from 5mc to 10mc daily,he still had a whole pack of the 5s, checked with local pharmacy it was OK to just take 2 of them, so as not to waste them. Because of this he hasn't needed to visit pharmacy. Running low,he went there yesterday to be told his script has run out....in spite of page saying 2 of 5 only have been given. He questioned this was told he should ignore these figures, and would have to "see the DR".... Don't make me laugh!!! He took the sheet into the surgery, receptionist said "you have to go to the pharmacy". Told her he had just been and told to visit Dr. She then told him they don't issue 6 months electric scripts anymore,he will have to visit surgery every 2 months. Since when!!! He's been on these meds absolutely years. They aren't 2 months tablets anyway, they are 2X28 days. Had this before with mine, pharmacy telling you to contact surgery, and visa versa.surgery receptionist also told him to ignore figures on sheet,so many out of five. Anyone help?
Our local Boots pharmacy liaises direct with the GP practice and texts me when my meds are ready (8 weekly). When I pick them up I tick and sign the prescription to order the next lot.
They also remind me (by text) when I’m due for a review so I can book a blood test and do my BP readings.
It all seems so straightforward… there’s never ever been a blip, not even during Covid.

I have this issue with my GP too, they used to do 3 month now two, tablets 28 days , eye drops calendar month. Can I get them to issue an extra pack of tabs to balance up across the year? What do you think! It would seem that today's medical degree omits basic arithmetic. 😡
