@Busy-Lizzie, don’t know how to add a link, but article on the BBC website about a woman admitted to hospital but didn’t get to see a doctor for four days! She ‘reached out’ to the CEO via Facebook, and got a immediate response. Maybe that is a way to go? Ask Trust / Hospital CEO when your poor husband is going to have an alternative date for his op? There must be people on the list in front of him, who haven’t been kept waiting as long as he has.
No idea how Facebook works though.

@Ergates, I'm afraid there's not much Busy-Lizzie can do in the circumstances as it is up to her OH to kick up a fuss and he doesn't want to.

'Reached out' is one of those phrases which gets me screaming at whoever says it.  What is wrong with 'contacted'?

Absolutely! Not a phrase I would have used normally.

Poor BusyLizzie, I can sympathise with that. Like trying to get my OH to see a doctor / deal with a potential problem etc etc. Just got to grit my teeth, and remember not to say I told you so.

'hack' was previously used for a way of bypassing or temporarily fixing a problem with a computer program.  Why that morphed into any tip is beyond my.

It seems to me that hacks are discoveries by younger folk of tips that older folk have been following for years. 😉

Just had a call from somebody on behalf of British Gas.  "We need to come and install new smart meters, when is convenient?"  Me "No time for at least 3 months".  BG person "Oh, OK"

We used to get pestered to have one of those put in @KT53 but as we have very poor phone connection in this particular area, have a cast iron excuse not to.

I can't resist an old book of helpful hints. I read them cover to cover and then promptly forget the entire contents.

  • As far as I know, Smart meters can't be forced on consumers if they don't want one.  I had a similar call from my electricity supplier last year and said I wasn't interested.  No more calls about it since.
