I never knew my first hoover had a filter that needed cleaning until the thing started smoking. In my defence my parents have never been keen hooverers so I didn't learn these things growing up.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
My OH is hoovering the stairs at this very moment ... he always does it ... he thinks it's asking for trouble to let me loose on the stairs with 'machinery' let alone hose thingummies. I never ever ask him ... he just does it when he decides it needs doing 😊(smug face)
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
We have one of the Gtech battery hoovers, and it's great. The biggest problem is my younger daughter's long hair. I cut a huge wodge of it out of the brush bar recently. It's in the compost bin
I often use the hair gathered in late winter to put out for the birds for their nests
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
We were having a family day out a few years ago and I stopped at Screwfix to buy a Makita hoover as they were on offer. I'd planned the day out to coincidentally pass the only store that still had them in stock. They were just under £20 because they don't come with batteries or a charger. I only wanted it to help tidy up in the garage but it gets used more often than the house hoover now.
Anyway, why are kids so weird? Apart from Eiffel Towers my boy is obsessed with marbles and marble runs. This doesn't explain why he's insisting on keeping an old cardboard tissue box full of marbles in the fridge He also just traded his ice cream for the tomato that was supposed to be in my sandwich. I've no idea why he was eating ice cream in this weather anyway.

@wild edges if you want a first class marble run to visit, then you need the house of marbles just outside Bovey Tracey in Devon, best one I have seen anyway.
My gripe, a flock of birds land in a tree in a nearby neighbours garden. I reach for the binoculars to try to see what they are and they instantly take off and fly away. They have done this 2-3 times today already, they are probably just starlings, but I'm on the lookout for Fieldfares , as we get them sometimes when the weather is this bad.
I never realised how much water can be stored in a rag rug. The dishwasher flooded at some point yesterday, only discovered early on Sunday evening. Mopping, drying, plumber calling. He called round this morning to announce the problem was solved and I have no idea how I did it. My wife is still in shock after this rare outbreak of competence. The plumber, bless him, refused payment so I sent him on his way with wine.
For what it is worth, I do the vacuuming, and other household duties, and love the Dyson. The Miele Cat and Dog vacuum has been left on the subs bench.
I love my Dyson! I especially love the fact that OH also loves it, and has taken over most of the vacuuming in our house! One of the best things we ever bought. Shame he seems incapable of loading the dishwasher, or putting anything in the correct recycling container.
We need a new Hoover so I've been reading recent posts with interest. From what I understand, Dysons are awful and brilliant. My main issue with them is that they're Dysons. We have a Vax Blade which is fortunately on it's last legs. You'd need a couple of tug of war teams to separate the elements. It even takes two people to get the dust container off.
