It's the fear of being sued isn't it @KT53? There was a woman some years ago who tried to sue McDonalds [I think] because her coffee spilled onto her lap. She was driving at the time - and had it between her legs. A recipient of the Darwin award possibly?
Absolutely right @Fairygirl I was a post on another site where somebody claimed that the manual with their original car gave instructions on how to change the oil, their new car had a warning not to drink the battery acid Whether that's true or not I don't know but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is true.
The other issue with allergies is things change, mfcrs change things then put warnings in tiny print to cover themselves. The girls used to love little cakes from a particular maker, that were guaranteed nut free, after school one day I was about to let them have them when luckily R piped up and said "what does that say on the corner of the packet?" There was a statement saying they were very sorry to give up their nut free status, but it meant they could offer a wider range of products. Luckily R was/is so attuned to looking out for her sister, I hadn't noticed. It really is a minefield.
For many years I wondered if one cause was atmospheric pollution , then I watched a Horizon prog where they studied people on a Pacific island where the environment was a pure as could be. They suffered a similar rate of allergies, pro rata, to anywhere else. The only case where there is some real progress, is where some people have been deliberately exposed to parasitic antigens (not live parasites of course). It seems to re-train their immune system, but it only works in limited circumstances.
I remember reading some years ago of a theory that some peanut allergies may be due to the use of peanut/groundnut oil in baby cleansing products (lotion, wipes etc) meaning that very young babies were exposed to it at a high dosage and very frequently. My understanding was that the manufactures were changing the formula of their products.
Is anyone aware of any more information on that?

Sorry I was being lazy not writing it in full.come to think of it though most of them a lazy too, with a blanket "may contain traces of nuts". In my Granddaughters case its only peanuts and brazils that are a problem but they exclude so much with these blanket statements.

In some situations the terms are interchangable.
