Ah the Putin solution. Defenestrations for all who refuse to cooporate.
I can just visualise Putin, arm round a colleague and saying "Ah my friend, come and look at the wonderful view from the 16th floor" (Then the 15th, 14th.......)
Climate Change activists glued to their bloody mobile phones whilst on a protest march/demo. Where do they think the power comes from ? Out of thin air ? COP meetings which produce little other than vague promises to do "something" whilst providing jaunts for politicians. Countries ridden with corruption whilst their population suffers. Millions stashed in hidden ( or not so hidden sometimes ) funds which could be put to use. The possibility of the likes of Donald Trump actually becoming a "world leader" again. Russia and Ukraine still battling it out with very little hope of one or another coming to an agreement and the complete stupidity of Russia destroying any and all infrastructure in that region. Cost of armaments let alone cost to human life. Quite crazy when we will be having Remembrance Day tomorrow - we still haven't learned anything from the past and those poor buggers died for nothing. The fact that Boris Johnson is still an MP and, possibly a future PM candidate when he happily wastes taxpayers money like there's no tomorrow - the London Bridge with Joanna Lumley ?, interior decoration of No. 10, a bloody good pension and everything else that goes with being an ex PM. Local councils which take little or no account of their residents concerns. Is there any wonder that people just shrug and get on with their lives as best they can without worrying overmuch about what is actually happening in the world ? Plenty more to be curmudgeonly about but that's my rant over.
Absolutely @philippasmith2. Those in charge learn zero about what's gone before IMO. Re those climate change clowns - they inconvenience ordinary folk [never mind preventing people getting to hospital etc] but does it not enter their heads that the money they'd want spent on those changes comes from taxpayers...who are the people they're preventing getting to get to work? If they really wanted to make a difference, why didn't they head off to the COP 27 conference and glue themselves to something there.... That would have gone well
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Apparently pledges made in COP meetings are legally binding, @philippasmith2. Not that this will prevent countries from breaking them, of course...
I have a solar charger for my mobile phone. Just a small contribution, given the amount of energy used to make the phone in the first place, but better than nothing, perhaps.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Yes and they don't think about the carbon footprint of the Internet either All those data banks mile upon mile of air conditioned warehouses . As ever it's not straightforward.
This should probably be in RTBC but I was reading that the Republicans are blaming Trump for their dismal performance in the elections. It seems that even most Republicans can't stomach the extremists Trump put forward. Senior Republicans are questioning whether Trump should stand again. Maybe there has been an outbreak of sense.
