I agree - selling off council housing without allowing more to be built was a stupid mistake with some dreadful consequences for the poor and she was naive about what a de-regulated City of London would do.  However, she was followed by many years of Labour govt who did nothing to redress the housing situation nor improve infrastructure.

    Nowt to choose between them.

Apparently we only get about 5% of our gas from Russia.  I don't know where the rest comes from, but the current situation shows just how important it is to be self sufficient in production of whatever fuel is presently in use.

North Sea, USA, Qatar.........   All putting up prices cos of the Russian supplies being beyond the pale, showing the unacceptable face of capitalism.   Could do better IMHO.

Going back a bit, I am still having trouble with OVO energy, they are only billing my standing charges not for what we have used. I  can't get through on the phone have had several on line "chats" and email exchanges they are supposed to be looking into it.  I got a good fixed deal last July just before all the price hikes.  My concern is they are going to try and clobber us with the higher prices once they do finally sort it. I am paying a fixed direct debit so the account is hundreds in credit.

Have you considered cancelling your Direct Debit ?  If you are getting no response via phone, email or Live Chat, your cancellation may just spark a bit of interest.  They cannot cut your supply without warning so you should be safe.

I’m organising a village fund raising event for the D.È.C. appeal and went on eBay to source some Ukrainian flags. First I had to scroll past scores and scores of Chinese sellers - the cheeky beggars.

No flags here but we've heard back from the Vendée-Ukraine organisation that normally finds hosts for children affected by Chernobyl and now looking for hosts for refugees.   If it goes thru we may look for some French made blue and yellow balloons to welcome them.   Certainly don't want anything Chinese!

Looks like a financial vice is being squeezed tighter, believe it was the turn of Visa yesterday to withdraw their services. I would imagine there's a strategy at work (I hope).  At least the narrowing channel should make it easier to monitor what the activity is made up of. Think the authorities are trying to discover where Putin's money is stashed and who's stashing it.

As for bitcoin? Who the heck understands it, and could that be a way out for Putin?

I had an e-mail from Gardeners World a couple of days ago referring to their review of peat free composts.  I've just looked and it must be the most meaningless review I have ever seen.  No information about long term use, or even the consistency of the compost, just basically the blurb which will have been provided by the producer.

.the trouble is, compost varies from bag to bag - never mind from year to year
    In London. Keen but lazy.

but it shouldn't. You don't expect sugar, or flour to vary. Why can't they make something consistent ,and of quality and at a competitive price?
