I'm not sure why my first photo is tiny. :#
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Would anyone know what this caterpillar will grow into please?
  • A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

I was browsing the new records for today on iNaturalist and came across an entry for a Hairy Beech Gall. Not something I've heard of before and there were only 4 or 5 records for Wales on there and none in my area on there or NBN atlas. There are a lot of beech trees around here though and they're at their largest at this time of year so I took the dog for a walk and went looking for them. This was on the first tree I looked at. It won't win any beauty contests and contains some kind of midge larvae but it's something new to me and finding out about new things makes me happy. :)

I'm going to say Knotgrass moth. It's hard to tell but the orange pattern looks different to the Yellow Tail.
