    DOF looks good for the side on shot and the hairs, for the best part, all look to be in focus.

    I was trying to work out what lighting source you are using, fixed permanently on or heavily diffused manual flash, or maybe something else?

    @Fire Ta very much, I was in the garden this morning trying to photograph some buzzing bees and I have to say I'm so out of practice.

    Dragonfly No 12 Β it fled yesterday . Quiet today , no visitors today but still hopeful for more.

    I just use the LED lamp that runs off my drill batteries. Low tech and a bit unwieldy but works well with this lens. The advantage over a flash is that I can adjust direction and intensity in real time through the view finder and it helps me to focus on things when it's dark.

    @wild edges I like that and the thinking behind it, the ability to alter the brightness and get it just right before pressing the shutter is very useful.
