It's that time of the year when the Nezara viridula, southern green shield bug invades my Hibiscus syriacus with its changing appearance, from green to brown to green... Here are some specimens photographed today...
Nice to see the Clem terniflora covered in both ladybird larva and honey bees. I put it in for the insects and it does seem to be offering something in the way of the ivy that collapsed and was removed a few years ago. I suspect it's not as a appealing to as wide a range of insects (flies and hoverflies etc).
It seems late in the day for the adult ladybirds to be emerging. I hope they get a shufty on and are not hit by cold.

A praying mantis, just outside the back door and for a while it took up residence on a dog bed!
