  • As I suggested …

’… Carr has defended the joke as raising awareness of the genocide of an estimated 25-50% of Europe’s population of Roma and Sinti gypsies, and some commenters have suggested it may have been intended ironically to highlight prejudice against the GRT community….’

If you put the joke into the context of the whole show, that doesn't really stand up. The show was about offence for offence's sake. For instance he picked a woman out from the crowd and started doing fat jokes, and telling her she that was the reason having sex with her boyfriend was "like playing pool with a piece of rope" etc etc, what I'm trying to say is, this wasn't highbrow or clever.

That is bullying. I hope the woman and anyone with her walked out.

Plenty of hysteria online about this, ranging from dismay at the joke all the way up to the lunatics saying he and the audience should be prosecuted.  :|
  • I've only ever seen one Jimmy Carr show on netflix where he told some equally unappealing jokes, after each joke he stands back looking at the audience as if to say look what I just said aren't I a naughty boy. I don't dislike him but as far as British comedians go he's down towards the bottom of the pack punching well above his ability.
