I don't find him funny, but that is just me. No idea what he said, and no interest in finding out. The constantly upset seem really upset, so i can only surmise he made his point. A big boy did it and ran away.
@Loxley 😊 the quote from Robert Rinder is towards the end of the piece.
“… Meanwhile, TV barrister and regular Good Morning Britain co-host Rob Rinder said that “the truly disturbing thing isn’t just the gag – it’s that on hearing it, instead of leaving, the audience clapped, whooped and cheered in approval”.

We have a duty to protect those that cannot protect themselves and to punish bullies. Racist chanting at football matches and those who hide themselves on line etc, etc, is not acceptable
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team

You have chosen one way of looking at it, as if it is the majority attacking a weak minority The comfortable hate anything that might disrupt their comfort. The establishment hates freedom of speech, as it might lead to the majority attacking them.
A while back Jimmy sent a really offensive letter to Professor Stephen Hawking in the guise of comedy. I won't go into the content but it wasn't funny. Jimmy confessed his shame and apologised to Stephen when they met and they ended up being really good friends and spending a lot of time together socially. Things like that suggest to me that Jimmy isn't the offensive idiot he plays on stage and TV.
The misunderstanding people seem to have this time is thinking that the victims of the joke are the gypsies killed in the Holocaust. I don't think that's the case as Jimmy is playing on peoples' perceptions of modern Travellers. The people laughing are the ones that believe the crime statistics and stereotypes often rolled out in the modern press. They know nothing about pre-war German Gypsy communities but they watched Snatch and know all about 'Pikies'.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Does that mean that we should have a society where only tough skinned people who don’t find anything offensive are allowed? What an absolutely idiotic thing to say! We promote diversity, but only if it’s far away and isolated.
I’m not sure what Mr Carr’s intentions were regarding the joke. I do not know him at all, and even if I did these sort of things are hard to judge. But when I don’t know something I prefer to err on the generous side.
I have known a lot of suffering, having been born as part-gypsy, gay, hypersensitive in a traditional family, with an violent alcoholic father and in a communist country. Freedom of speech, yes, I agree. But kindness and respect first.
