Lots of sunshine here today and clear blue skies plus a heavy frost which will take some time to thaw.  -6C last night which is cold for here.  I love the way it all glistens but I shall be staying indoors for a while and sorting fabrics.  Much knee throbbing yesterday so not risking getting it cold and damp but I will go and open the polytunnel so the chooks can get warm and have a dust bath.

I have broad bean shoots!!  They were sown direct  between Xmas and NY and on a warmish damp day.  Never known them take so long to show willing.  I have a wee fence round them to keep the chooks off.   OH's netting round another bed failed (he doesn't stretch it taught so it flops) and they've raided the Swiss chard so all I have left are stalks.   They'll regrow tho once spring is properly underway.  Wish they'd eat his horrid sprouts.

@WonkyWomble that iris is very keen!  Lots of them here but just signs of healthy new foliage at the mo apart from the reticulatas which are a gorgeous blue now and perfectly lit by the low sun.

Have a good time today everyone whatever you're doing and hope all lurgies and blues are fading away.   Safe journey @Busy-Lizzie.

Morning to all you chatty folks. Glad to hear that you have had the 'all clear' @PatE. Safe journey to @Busy-Lizzie and welcome back to the UK. Last day of my anti-biotics today, dentist did say it might flare again and I forgot to ask him if he will give me another prescription if necessary, fingers crossed.
Must pull myself together and get myself down to the little local village stores for some bits before the forecast rain arrives mid morning. Have a good day everyone.

Oooops forgot to say that is a very healthy looking flag iris @WonkyWomble . Lots of strange things happening with plants this year with our odd weather, but keep telling myself that nature knows best and things will sort themselves out as they usually do.

    Amazing iris @WonkyWomble
6N starts today, so that will fill most of my time. Great rivalry, Scotland [ Moira ] vs. England [ me ], hopefully won't come to blows.
How can you lie there and think of England

  • Morning all from an increasingly windy Wales.
Our one remaining chook will be 7 next month. She has the life of Riley, free ranging in the garden and is a right little character.
My Sarah Raven sweet peas and black eyed Susan arrived yesterday. You'll find me in the greenhouse later - kettle will be on and hub has made scones...

Is it sport? I thought it was just homoerotica.
