Oh!  I wouldn't mind a bit of 1s or 2s - it all adds to the warmth!! @floralies    Is it as beautiful a day there, as it is here.  Absolutely stunning.  It was actually too hot to wear a jacket this morning - I just walked down to the market in jeans and a warm jumper.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

That reminds me of the time Graham Norton once said how picking up dog poo was good in cold weather as it warms your hands!
I'm glad you have nice weather, tui.

What a coincidence @floralies and @Nanny Beach I lived in Reigate until the summer when I was 11, then we moved to farmhouse in Horley. I went to school in Redhill. Another coincidence @Dovefromabove I was given a pony then too. She hadn't been well treated, was bad tempered, bit and kicked, but we grew to love each other. She was all my parents could afford but I was delighted with her.

  • The wind is really getting going here now, but only squally showers so far. A big gust blew the side out of the Lemon House so I  am just back in from a bit of hasty taping up. I've wedged some heavy pots and a bag of grit against it now. It's pinned to the wall at the back , so it should hold.  There's a tree in a neighbouring garden a few door up loocks rather drunk.

I think one of our silver birch trees has uprooted itself. Its leaning badly and appears to be propped up by the branches of its two neighbours. Another one down in the woodland seems to be at a funny angle too. Luckily neither is pointing towards the house or the road. I’m definitely not going out for a closer look until it’s eased off!

Thepostman's just called with my new Japanese herbaceous sickle. Nicely lightweight but fairly lethal looking!

Large stone tile just crashed off the roof, made an almighty bang.
