I don’t remember ‘63. Wasn’t even a twinkle then ✨
Well its pretty hairy here. Lost my ceonothus and two fence panels so far. Its funny that storms like this normally hit overnight, and then you wake up to devastation. Today we’re seeing it happen in real time. Still have power so far, but the generator has had a test run, and is out there ready for action.

Hello folks, fairly calm night, better than expected but seriously windy now. and raining hard. I made the sad mistake of walking to the shop for the paper earlier and had to cling onto lamp posts several times. The noise of the wind was tremendous. No damage in the garden that I can see thank goodness. Son is contemplating taking the dog for a long walk, I don't think the dog's too keen! Just watched a plane heading for Bristol Airport, glad I'm not on it.
I well remember the winter of 63, we were snowed in for nearly a week before they managed to get a snowplough through and we were getting low on milk and bread. Had to walk a good mile or two through the drifts to the nearest main road to try to get to college and wait for a bus which frequently never came. A long freezing wait and then a long trudge back home. You were expected to try through, none of this schools closing for bad weather in those days. The big freeze lasted for six solid weeks - sheer misery.

If I can, I will.
Hope everyone's okay and their garden.
