I also have a monster Anthemis  E.C Buxton which is also full of mildew.

My windy garden wrecks it too which means it is trussed as it was flopped down over other plants.  I love the pale yellow flowers but it’s a mess currently.

It’s about 1.5 m tall. Is this plant suitable for the Chelsea chop… for next year?

If you want to Chelsea chop for next year, you need to do it next spring. You can cut it back hard now to tidy it up for the rest of the year though. It will regrow into a tidier clump of foliage. You might even get a few more flowers in a month or two's time.

Thanks @Loxley I think  I will have to cut it down and the plan is to avoid it getting to this size next year.

There is some helenium behind it so it should not look too bad when cut down.

I do hope it throws up some more flowers later on.

Maybe also consider dividing it in spring too
