@Fire I've had the same problem with some of my tulips this year (in pots). I'm a first time tulip grower so assumed it's something I've done! I wondered if they got a bit dried out as I'm definitely an underwaterer.
@AnniD your wallflower / tulip combination is absolutely gorgeous - I love it! I'm not usually a 'hot' colours fan (I go for blues and purples mostly) but I'm really sold on this border.
@AnniD Wonderful photos, as always. I’m going to keep all my tulips for next year as well. I have tried to plant them as deeply as my stoney soil would allow.
I've spent the weekend tinkering and tidying up for spring (apart from the excavated washing line pole which is a slow burning task ) The pond is pretty much just Marsh Marigold now, but it's nice to have plants that want to grow. A new little daff this year, Iwona, I think it is quite sweet. I think it is starting yellow, turning pink, I will have to keep an eye on the last one to be sure
Lovely garden looks like you've given a lot of TLC to get it looking so good Victoria Sponge. We'd love a little bridge over our Pond but it's only small, instead my husband has put a Gunnera close by just had to split it it's getting so big.Happy Gardening .
Thanks @Valleysgirl, very kind of you I liked the idea of being forced over a bridge (there are no paths around it) but it does reduce the enjoyable water surface of the pond, especially as the pondside plants spread out also. It became rather treacherous in winter as it is just decking wood and very slippery. I fitted anti-slip strips along it the other year and it is much safer now. I slipped off it many times
Here are some photos of OH's garden in Norfolk, which is where I am now. My earlier photos were of my garden in France. Life can be complicated when you fall in love in later life and have a home and grandchildren each in different countries.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
