My Choisa ternata is in full bloom again. Looks really lovely and quite unexpected.

I have the beginnings of arthritis in my knee. It's a shame I can't make an appointment now so that by the time it gets bad, I'll already have an appointment soon.

I suppose it's really a case of defining 'the beginning of arthritis'.  If it's to the stage of restricting movement, or having constant discomfort, then you should be able to speak to your GP and potentially get Xrays done.  When I started to get significant pain in my hip I was sent for Xray and the results showed some deterioration, but nowhere near bad enough for surgery. Since then, over a period probably of about 5 years, I've had 2 more sets of Xrays and after the most recent was referred to the consultant, and from there to where I am now.  Namely expecting hip replacement in Feb.  I wouldn't wish knee replacement on anybody as I've known far too many (% wise) who have had severe problems.  Thankfully Obelixx doesn't seem to be amongst them.

I'm at the stage that if I give my leg a shake, the problem goes away. Back when you could actually visit a doctor, he confirmed that things were getting a bit worn.

All I can suggest it to 'lay it on a bit thick' when explaining the current problems.  My GP was actually great, she said I needed to get on the list as soon as possible to avoid being crippled before I got to see the consultant.  Thanks to her I'm in the position I currently find myself.

Absolutely @KT53 and @B3.   I had X-rays that showed arthritic wear and tear on all 3 parts of both knees but worse in the left.   When I first asked for surggery my GP said I was too young!! as they only lasted 10 to 15 years so I should have infiltrations of hyaluronic acid to ease it.   5 month waiting list for those and the chap who does them is a complete b*stard.   First lot of 3 worked OK but the second lot took 3 months to kick in and weren't great so my GP relented.

I chose to go to Nantes rather than locally and had 3D scans to get a made to measure titanium replacement.  I think a lot of problems other people have had have been with the fitting - one size does not fit all - and the earlier materials.  I have a friend whose hubby had 3 goes at one new knee in the UK before they got it right but is happy now.

I had a great surgeon, excellent anaesthetists and good nursing care after the op and my physio has been brilliant, plus I've worked hard to get fit again.  Right knee will happen next July, all being well.

I have a confused kerria japonica in flower now, just a metre away from a hardy hibiscus with deep red flowers that has decided to die.  I'd be much happier if it were the other way round.
