Think I'll go for the sirloin ... I might start with the poached egg ... will I have room for a pud?  I could try to squeeze the iced lemon parfait and meringue in, couldnt I ... or the cheese ...

We've lived in the same house for over 30 years, but had never been to one local park which is less than 15 minutes walk from home.  For 'proper walks' we always used to go to the Forest of Dean or onto the Cotswolds.  Yesterday, for no obvious reason, I decided we'd walk through said park.  Not just a park but a smallish arboretum as well.  We spent a lovely hour or so there.  Ridiculous what you don't know about on your own doorstep.
I've also since read up a bit on the history and up until the late 60's the house, now demolished, was a private mental hospital.  It is said that Spike Milligan was a resident there at one time.  I can imagine all the 'interest' on social media and attempts to get photos, if that was the situation now!

Well that would be my choice if I ate in the Woodlands Restaurant but because I'm on a diet I'm eating in the Stableyard cafe  :) If you look at the menu on the website you'll probably see the food before I do. Mind you I will def have a strawberry tart.

“Ridiculous what you don't know about on your own doorstep.”

I read a while back that Londoners visit the National Gallery, on average, once in every two and a half generations.

RTBC, it's May, my favourite month, which is lucky, because I was born this month.
How can you lie there and think of England

I went to the national gallery a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd have a look in the portrait gallery while I was at it. It was closed for renovation. It didn't look that bad last time I was there. I wonder what warranted shutting it down for months.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Can't find a menu for the Stableyard Café @Uff ... but I bet they'd do me a cheesy jacket potato and salad wouldn't they?

I’ve just got back from my driving test.

    Passed first time. Two minors.

I can now jump into my car whenever I want to (instead of just gazing at it from the sofa!).

Garden Centres far and wide here I come!
Congratulations!!! Looking forward to seeing your many garden centre purchases now  :D
