I cried too @punkdoc. As I said on the Curmudge thread, what I know about rugby would fit on a stamp, and I was already aware of Doddie and his fight, but it was Kevin appearing on TV that made me fully aware of the battles going on, and how magnificent these people are - all of them. Legend doesn't even begin to touch that man's dedication and humility. Where he finds the mental, as well as the physical, strength to keep going with his challenges is. I've already decided that, although I've recently donated, there's no Christmas presents this year. What I would have spent on them is going to these charities.
I'm so sorry about your friend @KT53. As you say - the technology has come on leaps and bounds, and can help people now. A great pity your friend wasn't able to use it.
Apologies to everyone looking at this thread as it isn't what it normally is. We've digressed in a strange way, but sometimes it's right to have a think about life [especially at this time of year which is often full of excess and over indulgence ] and how fragile the threads are that hold it all together.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
We may have digressed in a strange way, but the RTBC is the massive boost to the profile of MND and the amazing work being done to raise research funding. All it needs now is for the Government to put its money where its mouth is and hand over the promised £50 million.
@Dovefromabove there was a report a few days ago about a drug for Alzheimers which seems to be effective but is seeing other problems in trials. 1 in 10 are suffering from brain swelling and 1 in 6 bleeds on the brain. Hopefully that isn't this drug.
Yesterday's RTBC, which I couldn't post, was that it was my first day testing negative for Covid (day 13) so I celebrated by buying some plants for the pot next to the front door.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I had that too @Liriodendron. Drove me mad for a while! I can't remember how I sorted it - probably switched it off and switched it back on again.... Glad you're 'free' of the lurgy - and a wee treat is always the way to celebrate
They were talking about that new drug on R2 earlier @Dovefromabove. I think the biggest problem will be getting people diagnosed early enough, especially with the constant delays/waiting lists for all sorts the whole country is suffering from. Hopefully, that will change.

Thanks @Dovefromabove and @Fairygirl. I'm getting there but progress is frustratingly slow - I still keep subsiding and dropping off to sleep when I've done one job.
Tried all sorts to get rid of the stupid message yesterday, Fairy. Lots of help on the Internet but nothing worked... until I switched it all off last night... this morning when I turned it on again everything was ok.
Good news indeed about the Alzheimer drug. Another devastating illness which badly needs more research and much more money spent on it.
