Looking good @Steephill.   We grow ours in the bed of red and blackcurrants plus gooseberries, blackberries and a young pomegranate.  The whole bed is netted off to keep the chooks out so the strawberries are safe.

OH went to pick a bowl for pud on Sunday and came back with a full colander.  Luscious.

Mine are safe in the greenhouse but I need to establish a secure outside plot for them for next year. Just opened a jar of strawberry jam for breakfast this morning which I made in 2015 from greenhouse strawberries and the wild strawberries which seed and runner everywhere in the garden. Still delicious!

We're eating spiced blackcurrant jelly made in 2015 @steephill.  No use by date on home-made stuff if you've sealed it well and the flavour is superb.

I assume you need somewhere deer proof for your strawberries.    We had loads of the wild ones in our last garden.  Lovely flavour.

Why is it always a surprise when a system works perfectly?
Yesterday, I emailed the council for a replacement food waste bin. It arrived this morning - less than 24 hours after I ordered it😀
    In London. Keen but lazy.

We had a splash more rain last night
And my work trip to London that was supposed to be for 3 days this week got postponed so I've put the tomato plants outside for their first day of hardening off.

Got the green waste bins filled yesterday afternoon just before the rain started.

Home at last after a long day being medical at Nantes - full 3D knee scan for a prosthetic knee, anaesthetist for blood, lung and heart checks, nurses for ordering post-op care.  Very impressed with everyone's efficiency, clarity and kindness.

Got home at 5pm and had a quiet potter down the veg plot watering and feeding and potting on for an hour accompanied by the 2 chooks so am all relaxed now.

38C today and no rain in view but that's OK.
