My daughters were in town yesterday for some C'mas shopping. I've been sorting my CDs and putting them onto the iPod. I was buying a couple of ones that I had on vinyl, but couldn't get Steve Harley's early albums unless I wanted to spend a fortune.
They went into HMV and bought me The Human Menagerie.  :)
I might let them stay here a bit longer.... :D

    Hi @Fairygirl ,
They sound like smashers your 2 girls ... big Steve Harley fan myself.

My reason to be cheerful is the news story on the BBC about the plumber doing work for free for families who can't pay. Pure gold people like that ... quite humbling to see what he has achieved.

I read about that @Bee witched. Restores your faith in the human race, doesn't it?

I was telling the girls recently that my favourite moment from any concert I've ever been to was, after one of his concerts, everyone left the Apollo [Glasgow] and walked down Renfield St. to make their way home, and without any prompting, started singing the end of Tumbling Down. It's hard to explain how stunning it was.
Especially when you consider how bad audiences always are at singing in time, and in tune  :D
I was lucky to see him do his acoustic set with his brother. Fabulous. He was one of the most brilliant live performers. Forget Freddie. Steve was the man.

    Happy memories eh @Fairygirl.

One early concert memory for me was, aged 14, I went with my mate to see The Kinks at the Stadium in Liverpool. It was a great venue as it was a boxing ring, so good views all round. I was madly in love with Ray Davies at the time ... so we had a ball.

The next day was a geography field trip up Snowdon. Louise and I were singing Kinks songs all the way up. One of the teachers heard us and came over. He was a youngish guy ... bit of a dish. Turns out he was also at the gig, and for an hour or so we chattered together about how good it had been. We stopped being teacher and pupils and were just music fans.

Had some fab concerts at that venue ... Liverpool was a great place to grow up.

That's a lovely story @Bee witched . Music is the great leveller, and just brings folk together whatever the circumstances  :)
I'm lucky that I've seen most of my favourite performers. My friend Debbie and me were always going to concerts, and I think of her every time I listen to certain songs, and also when I hear bits in films that she used to quote. Happy days indeed.
We were both music daft. Unfortunately, she moved to Australia 40 odd years ago and we lost touch. It would be so much easier nowadays with the t'interweb. I can't go in crowded places now either, which means concerts are a no go. I would have loved to see The Divine Comedy earlier this year, but that's how it is.  :)

I hope you're keeping cosy @punkdoc. I take it you're visiting your MIL?
The snow gates have been shut on and off for a week. Always makes things tricky. Take care x

I'm off for my walk now - it's reached a balmy minus 7...

@Bee witched  :)  I once drank champagne with Ray Davies ... he was performing at the N&N festival when I worked in the CEO 's office,... think it was '99 ...and he came in and chatted and my boss opened a bottle of champagne... RD was lovely, but actually seemed quite shy ... not helped by my colleagues telling him that I'd had his pictures all over my bedroom wall when I was younger.  He blushed ... and so did I 🤣

Last gig I went to was The Prodigy at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh.

I'd smashed my shoulder falling down stairs 4 weeks earlier, and was still trussed up, but there was no way I wasn't going. So, I wasn't at the front .... bit mad for me anyway .... but it was a great gig, and hard not to want to bounce around.

So glad we saw them before Keith Flint's tragic death.

    Oooo @Dovefromabove,

Think I'd have been totally tongue tied .... champagne might have helped. ;)
