Oh LB what a worry for Tonga and other such places … how on Earth would they even begin to cope with a serious Covid outbreak in top of all they’re dealing with. Our thoughts are with them and all who are trying to help.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
It wouldn't have been that far to fall @Ladybird4 and I was 'wearing' ample padding
Watched a few minutes of the early game @Songbird-1 and I've just sat down in front of the late one. Had a walk down to the SM in between - needed a few bits and the novelty of my 'smart' watch hasn't worn off yet 4000 steps round trip don't you know
Afternoon all Been busy with paperwork etc this morning then this afternoon I went out and did some more chopping and prepping of the branches we removed on Friday. Think I've cleared about three quarters of them now but I came in when it got too cold and boring.
Already have an absolutely huge pile of thinner straight branches ready for shredding, a really good stack of kindling sized sticks and a big pile of logs ready for sawing into burning lengths when the battery pruning saw is replaced. Contacting the saw supplier is a job for tomorrow. I'm hoping they'll offer a refund so I can replace it at the (fairly) local Stihl stockists / service centre. I wish I'd discovered them originally - they were very helpful on Friday. Unfortunately they tend to trade as farm machinery suppliers so I didn't think to consider them.
@Songbird-1 - Hazel were you saying the other day that you had a sarcococca you couldn't smell and wondered if you misidentified or bought the wrong plant? I thought the same with mine a couple of years ago. When the tiny flowers started to open I cut a tiny stem and brought it indoors. Couldn't smell it at all outdoors but, in the warmth of the kitchen, this tiny piece was soon scenting the whole room. Now the bush is a bit bigger the scent outside is absolutely delicious on a still, warmer, spring day.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
It got to 9° here too and sunny so I've planted 4 roses. 3 more to plant. Ground was quite wet and heavy, despite digging in about 8 bags of compost last year. It took a bit of effort digging up Darcy Bussell, she had developed a long root.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Busy-Lizzie Forgive me if you've told us before, but why are you digging up Darcy Bussell? I had been considering getting her - but does she have problems or not earn her keep?

We had a lovely time at cottage. It was cold and in the middle of our walk, snow started. It was nice and Max enjoyed. Now is time for rest, tomorrow is Monday. How weekend always flew so quick.
Evening All, really fighting the Sunday feeling 🥱 LB A heated gardening cape wouldn’t that would be lovely 😊 There is some cake left over if Al can be persuaded out 🐪 Hazel I was amazed to learn 23 is almost 90 threads old, that’s quite a milestone for him! Topbird That was a lot of branches chopped & sorted, very useful for tinder and burning. Do you still see the little girl Molly & her parents passing your garden? I wondered if the favourite pebble still had an outing, Ante I can imagine Max was very excited to see the snow flakes on your way home, the weekend does pass far too quickly I hope you have a nice relaxing evening, Signing off now, Goodnight everyone I hope you all enjoy the rest of your evening and get a good sleep tonight.

Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
