Oh Topbird!ย  What a total PITA that mouse has been ... I can empathise with your hard shoulder experience ... at least you had a hard shoulder tho' ... there isn't one as you're exiting the the Dartford tunnel northbound! ๐Ÿ˜ฑย  And yes, I love Cornelissens ... it is the most wonderful place ... I remember the first time I went there I was served by an incredibly beautiful young woman called Portia ... of course, what else?ย  Afraid that nowadays I use their online services (and those of other art suppliers Atlantis are great).ย  ย I agree with you about fountain pens ...ย  I was given a beautiful one years ago and always use it for letters and cards etc ... and yes, I write proper handwritten letters to friends from time to time :)

@Dovefromabove -ย It was lovely to see a small individual shop like that busy with genuine customers, all spending money, very late in the day in a quieter (well it was on Saturday) part of town. People had obviously made a special trip. The same as me.

I've only ordered online from them before but was able to have a nice chat with a very helpful and knowledgeable young assistant. I told him how much I'd been looking forward to visiting them 'in the flesh'. That's the thing about browsing in a real shop - you see all sorts of goodies you would never think to look for online.

Wouldn't have fancied doing the stock taking in the pre-computer era though! Thousands of different nibs, pencils, brushes etc etc etc.

Morning Hazel, Dove and Busy. Hazel you snuckered in before my last post. I wondered how long it would be before you got the decorating bug Hazel, albeit it's your son who persuaded your OH to help out. I think that is allowed.
Busy, great news about your negative result. I do have to say that your description of your son looking after 5 small people made me smile.

Crikey @Topbird what a horribly expensive mouse. I hope that after the latest repair the problems will be over. The blocked pipe was a horrible experience, OK using buckets and bowls for a day or two but nearly 5 days not knowing if anyone would come to the rescue wasn't fun!

I felt sorry for my Son LB, 2 yr old daughter was running about naked, she was too wriggly for him to dress, then he had to go and change baby boy's nappy! I hope feeding them all at lunchtime goes smoothly.

@Topbird :)ย  the first time I went to Cornellisens it was with a fellow art student who was buying gold leaf and gesso for one of his degree show sculptures ... he didn't want to take it on the Tube etc so needed someone who had a reliable car and was happy to drive him around Central London.ย  That was an age ago ......

    Afternoon all,

A bit Marti overnight but has turned into a bright day here. Not ventured outside yet but will do once the tennis has finished.

What an ongoing PITA with the energy companies @Ladybird4. After 3 complaints and one direct debit review, I'm still ยฃ100s in credit with ours. Perhaps that's how they prevent themselves going bust :oย

Bussy, I'm glad that your test is negative. Hope that your family affected with covid will be better soon.

I came home from school. First I'll have something for lunch and I'm going out to the garden. It would be shame to waste such a lovely day.
Here is my small gift from pupils. The title is "Growing pencil". It's made of fir wood, and on the top, in the green capsule, are fir seeds. Text is about how important plants are for whole planet. Very thoughtful.

Oh my goodness T'Bird, you snuckered in there. Please don't think your post was boring - it was anything but. It does make you realise how a tiny creature like a mouse can be so destructive. I think I would have have been most uncomfortable parked on a motorway hard shoulder with all those lorries thundering passed. Despite that grimness (and the Tube strike!) it does sound as though you had a wonderful day in London.
Biglad, I was awake in the early hours and caught the end of the Ash, Luisa match and the start of Rafa's, then I fell asleep again.
Ante, what a lovely gift and as you say, your students know you very well. You will have fun growing and looking after that gift and you will have a permanent reminder of their thoughtfulness.

Thank you for your kind words ladies๐Ÿ™‚

@Songbird-1 Here is a link to the art supply shop - if you dare to show it to your OH! I don't know why but the shop reminds me of the wizard supply shop in the Harry Potter films ๐Ÿ˜

Ante - what a lovely gift from your pupils. Meant to say earlier, I very much enjoyed Monty Don's mini tour of Croatian gardens. It is a stunningly beautiful country. Interesting that so many gardens are both attractive and highly productive. Very much like a traditional English Cottage garden would have been.

T'Bird, I have to say that Diagon Alley and Ollivander's leapt into my head as you were describing your trip to Cornelissen's.
