Ah. Is that today? Wales and Scotland have an entirely different power mix to England.

There was a fairly detailed discussion of it here. The app was developed by serious innovators.

For my postcode intensity right now is high. If I wait to start the dishwasher at 3am, it will use half the carbon. So I will put the timer on the machine tonight. The last few weeks has had very low wind in much of England.

You could think of it as a kind of Wordle for dishwwashers. Hit the green squares!

I'm not sure I like the thought of appliances being on during the night because of the possible fire risk.

      :D

For a dishwasher in my area (Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border). Interesting to compare.

That's why the postcode is important. Each area has its own mix.

I don't think there is a fire risk.

Just to note that the graphs are based on likely forecasts. The predicted weather etc doesn't always come to pass.

Not gadgets but unexpectedly useful things are

Magic erasers. Not eco but good for removing scuff marks off walls, removing crayon, or cleaning grouting.  A little goes a long way.

Does anyne have a whizzy bot vacuum cleaner? A friend recommended one for hard floors, and I admit I'm intrigued with the idea of setting it running on a timer and going out.  I think for b&bs and homes with lodgers and other semi-commercial settings etc it could be useful to keep kitchens and hallways clean without having to hoover yourself every day.

I guess it would be only useful for fairly simple shaped rooms on one level, with no spaces the bot could get stuck under.

We have one and I love it, wouldn’t be without it anymore. We have mainly hard floors with some rugs downstairs and carpets upstairs. I let it run on a timer at night downstairs and pop it upstairs during the day. It’s amazing how much it picks up. It goes under the sofa, around the chair legs and hoovers up all the pet hair. We occasionally have to do the corners manually but that’s about it. House always looks much more tidy because it gets hoovered every night  :)
It hasn’t gotten stuck yet, and it recognises steps, so no falling down the stair.

We also had a mowbot  called bob which I was equally in love with. But we now moved and have almost no lawn, so he is retired in the shed. Would also highly recommend for anyone with a biggish lawn. No more weekend mowing.

I asked about these for cleaning plastic plant labels and finally got round to trying them - AND THEY WORK!

These have been used repeatedly, scribbled out, sandpapered, erasered etc (all of which is a faff). This was the work of a few minutes - maybe 5 mins max?

I'm aware of the irony of using plastic to enable me to reuse plastic, but I'm thrilled to have found something effective.

Does anyone use a face steaming gadget for use with a cold or similar? I usually use a bowl, boiling water and a towel, but have eyed the steaming gadgets for years. I wonder if it is the kind of device you would probably use twice and then would live at the back of a cupboard thereafter. Or if it's genuinely and unexpectably great. How does it handle limescale? Thanks
