I have various motion sensor lights near the bathroom and on the stairs for when I have lodgers, so that we doesn't have to turn all the lights on at night and disturb everyone else. They work really well. You can get usb chargable ones these days. I have regular rechargable batteries and they work well.
Perhaps the gentle fading in and out to different colours @LG_ is to keep the brain in sleep /relaxed mode (?) ( instead of putting on the normal light which would be glaring during the dark night and presumably wake you up fully) and if sited on the toilet rim, to help seeing the loo! 🙂
Ah right - I understood that it was sold as a toilet light and that it was to be put on the loo rim. Obviously one can put anything anywhere but was querying the weirdness of selling something with such a specific description and its suitability for that purpose. Similar to selling a disco ball and specifying it's for use in the kitchen while worn up a jumper - the disco ball itself is perfectly OK, the rest is absurd.
But also it's just funny!
'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
On most web sites it is advertised as a toilet light. Some bathroom light pulls makes a heck of racket when pulled so this would help avoid disturbing other people in the house during the night.
Certainly one that only lights up when it detects movement, is fine. It will save on noisy light-pulls. It might even save on electricity, because I'm sure more than one of us have left the bathroom light on at some point. I know I have!!
But, if it's battery operated, that might prove to be more costly. Plus, if you have a pet that wanders around, or like us, a blind that blows in the breeze when the window is open, the light is going to be activated unnecessarily.
But I still like the idea of having it hung somewhere other than the toilet rim.
Edited to add: Mind you, we don't even bother turning the light on at night, or even in the dim light, because we can find our way around easily. But visitors need it. As do I to shave neatly!!🧔
The pull switch in our bathroom is exceptionally noisy, one of the reasons OH bought the motion detection light. The batteries last a surprisingly long time. The ceiling lights in our ‘downstairs loo’ ( not downstairs as we live in a bungalow, but you know what I mean) and in the airing cupboard have motion detectors, so the lights only come on when needed. We do have to warn guests not to panic and just move a bit to reactivate the lights if they go off, but the settings can be adjusted to accommodate most ‘visits’. More confusion seems to caused by not being able to find an off switch when they are leaving the room.
I worked in a Russell Group world renowned University full of brains. Someone, with no brains, decided that it would make economical sense to put pir lights... in offices. There you are in the middle of your busy work or having a serious in depth conversation with a student and the lights go off. You have to wave like a loon to get them on again. Very professional, not!
I love this unexpectedly fab gadget. It is a USB rechargable magnetic bathroom light (or to use anywhere). Three settings of brightness. It comes with a magnetic plate to attach to a shelf etc, if you need one. I've been looking for something like this for years as I can't hard wire in a cabinet light. But now I can properly see my face in the mirror
