Very much a 'Chewin' the Fat' moment  ;)

Is it short for 'how is it that you are......?' Which is a long way to say why.

    In London. Keen but lazy.

It means why @B3, but I don't know if it's short for anything as such. Just a common term here  :)

A few years ago, a Glaswegian actress was being interviewed on Radio Scotland. She was playing a part at Dundee Rep Theatre. The part she was playing needed her to play a Dundonian. When asked how she managed the Dundee accent, she said it was easy, just miss out all the consonants!
As a Dundonian myself i had to laugh as it was spot on! :D

Do you add the 'ey' [in a questioning tone] on at the end  of sentences too @Balgay.Hill?
My nephews had a definite touch of that when they were younger, as they were raised in the dark side [east] of the country  ;)

Yep @Fire, use both of these and find them very useful. Like you we have crap mobile reception (but at least we won't get our brains fried!). Got our motion sensor lights from Amazon. Useful for having that night-time pee without waking up too much.
    Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

Light pollution here means it never really gets dark even in the house. Just monochrome.

We have a motion detector night light in the bathroom, very handy for night time trips to the loo. Also have the main lights in the airing cupboard, and the downstairs loo connected to motion sensors. I do have to warn visitors to wave their hands around if the light goes out before they are finished. ( No crude comments, please)

       That's the gem :D
[Gem with a 'g' not a 'j' - as in game, not the precious item, for those not initiated  ]

    We've digressed a bit there :D
