These bampots make my blood boil.  >:)

Bigger punishments needed too IMO. I saw one the other day who clearly didn't want to be bothered clearing all the snow off the windows, or the roof, of her car - just used the wipers. If they just killed/injured themselves it wouldn't be so bad, it's all the other folk they kill/injure though....

Ahhh, but those timers go down to the minute and you can set different times for each day or group of days. So it seems to do what you want....
I have an instruction manual in pdf format if you want.

....edited to add....maybe you can read this!

Thanks, @KT53 and @steveTu.  If I don't get any joy out of Incredibledirect, I can get a Masterplug one on click & collect from my nearest Screwfix...   :)

We have one of those old plug-in timers with pegs, @Fairygirl - it predates the electronic one which died of old age.  It now loses about 10 mins a day though, not so good if you need to wake up for a ferry!  But ok for switching lights on & off for security.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

That's a shame @Liriodendron. My Dad's old timers are far better than the new ones too, and I hate to think what age they must be - at least thirty years old, if not more. One has got a slightly dodgy peg that I have difficulty keeping pressed down, but other than that, they're more accurate than the new ones.  ;)

On icey mornings I'm usually woken up by the neighbour over the road using his wipers to clear the windscreen of ice. It never works and you can hear him driving off with the painful noise of ice shredding the wiper blades. I don't know why he can't just use a bit of warm water.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

You don’t even need warm water (which might crack the windscreen especially if there’s a chip).  Just water from a kitchen cold tap will melt ice on a windscreen.

those who don't clear snow off the roof... grrrr. At some point it's going to start to melt and take off and land on the road, or the car behind.

I don't know why they don't use a cover when ice/frost is forecast @wild edges. Saves a lot of grief. I don't particularly like  using the sprays, but if you're in a hurry, they do a good job too.
No excuse for that nonsense  :|
Not clearing snow off car roofs is so dangerous too. I don't think people have any common sense at all. It doesn't take much to keep a brush in the boot of your car. I did it when I worked because the car could easily accumulate several inches by the time I needed to get back into it at lunchtime or at going home time.

Someone I used to know well (!) didn’t clear the snow off the roof of his Transit van … he was driving down a hill when the snow all slid forwards in one piece and slipped downwards, completely covering the windscreen 🙄

    That's exactly the problem @Dovefromabove :/
I walked past a car a couple of days ago, which was on a slightly sloping drive, and the entire dump of snow slid off the roof and covered the windscreen. Just as well it was parked.
