and I wonder why this wasn't raised at all during COP26 :|
International aviation is discounted from national carbon budgets so nobody is counting it. It's on the 'too difficult' pile. (It's quite a big pile - in more than one sense)
It can't be that difficult to stop empty flights surely?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

No, but if no one cares, they just don't get round to it. It's nobody's job to stop it, so it isn't stopped

If you want to see 'patronising' in action, try finding a clip of Esther Rantzen on BBC Breakfast some years ago.  She was on with an elderly gentleman when she came out with something along the lines of "He's 85 years old, and so spritely.  Isn't it wonderful"  That was accompanied by patting his leg as if he was some kind of geriatric pet!
Perhaps old people and pets are actually interchangeable these days.  If you don't have a pet, you need to get out and find a convenient old person to cuddle.

I may have lost the plot here but why do failed Power companies require public money to bail them out ?  There are ( were ? ) far too many of them - supposedly in the rush for "competition".  No doubt their backers were paid dividends over the years and their CEO's didn't suffer either.

We are constantly encouraged to save for the future.  Perhaps some of these companies should have taken the same advice on board.

Old person here willing to cuddle if you need one.

At least Esther Rantzen had the decency to cry when she knew she’d been found as to knowing what savile was up too.

No volunteers for having a cold shower then or are you waiting to finish your lunges and star jumps?  My shower refused to heat for about a week this time last year - I wouldn't recommend it!

Part of the problem is if the empty flight is part of a series, or the return flight would have passengers.  Many flights have been cancelled over the past couple of years.  Another problem for the airlines apparently is that if they don't use their flight 'slots' they can be taken off them.  Airports wants the income generated by departures and arrivals.

Sorry - having a young person to cuddle you doesn't count.  You will be warm enough and don't need to go looking elsewhere.  If you also eat Porridge, no problem apparently.
Was that really what Power suppliers seriously suggested to their clients.?
No wonder they are in turmoil :D
