Well, we have had to cancel our plans twice now, so third time lucky and I realise that compared with some others we are very fortunate.

At first I thought you were wondering if the cheese would go off before Christmas @punkdoc! You must be with cheese like I am with chocolate   :D

Think I may go and have a look round the plant nursery and see if they have bare root roses.

    Afternoon all,

My 3rd attempt at donating blood this month has just been cancelled 1 hour before I was due to bleed :( They've actually given a reason this time ("staffing issues") but it really is becoming too time-consuming and irritating to persist with.

I went to bed very late last night so getting woken up by the pointless text sent at 8.45am this morning hasn't improved my attitude to the shambles either :o

After our 5am pre breakfast breakfast, decided to dash off to Waitrose at 9am and grab a few perishables. Not too crowded, and all the sprouts, parsnips and potatoes were conveniently stacked by the door. In and out in 10 minutes, just the turkey to collect tomorrow. Also some cheeses, thank you for the reminder, Punkdoc!
Just got to drop cards in to the neighbours, and then I’m going to call it done.
  • Two dozen mince pies and three dozen sausage rolls (with chilli jam) made, cooled and put away ... washing up done and the kitchen all clean and tidy ... no need for lunch as there were a few mis-shapes (Chef's perks).

I've prepped supper so all I need to do now is drink my coffee and  flollop on the sofa with my knitting ... feet are up on the Big Leather Pouffe  B)

I started my Christmas cake at coffee time. It was staring at me. Oh my life it's gorgeous. My lovely friend just happened to make one spare, like she did last year. And I started a bottle of Tia Maria that I'd bought after it was mentioned on here. I'm pleased that I like it because I feel out of it when others enjoy a glass of wine. I only had a smidge of course  o:)

Me too and it's surprisingly good drizzled on a whole Camembert scattered with walnuts and spoonful of demerara sugar then baked in a moderate oven till it just goes soft in the middle.  Serve with chunks of crusty baguette.  Yum.  Amaretto works well too.
