Greetings Forkers on this, the shortest day of the year, and the most amazing pea souper!!

We can now look forward to the days getting gradually longer - yaaay.

@Yviestevie    Glad to hear that the op is over and you are on the road to recovery.  Stay safe.

A trip to town today for a scan for OH.  I have to sit in the car as two people are admitted into the waiting room.  I have a good book and a rug for my knees..  A little last minute shopping at lunchtime when - hopefully - the throngs will be less - but at this time of year, I doubt it.

    Enjoy your day everyone.

    Morning all
Still crazy busy here.  Juggling work with card delivery,  Cooking preparations,  house work,  and relative visiting with Step Womble who is on a flying visit from Brighton having done 3 negative tests. Stay safe and warm everyone!
  • Morning @WonkyWomble 😇  hope all goes according to plan, try not to overdo it  ;) and give a huge hug to Step Womble from her Spare Gran 👵😍

Morning all, @Yviestevie so glad your op is over before Christmas, take it easy.
OH wants to go to the tip this morning then it's back home for some more tidying in the garden before the expected rain at the weekend.

    So
why have I got this sudden desire to start my posts with so?

Moira is back, utterly exhausted and rather tearful, and I am full of cold again.

It is hard doing copious amounts of ZOOM meetings from your bed, whilst trying to make it look like you are sitting in your office ( not quite sure why I should care, it’s not as though I get paid )

Pleased the operation was a success @Yviestevie

Big hugs for Moira  @punkdoc .... I know how she feels .... it can feel like a sort of success and failure all in one package ... but her mother is safe, warm and cared for at least for the time being, thanks to her family.  What happens next is not yet known ... and in the end, if our parents have the capacity to make decisions, the decisions are theirs to make and not our responsibility.

You must've come across folk in the past who've chosen not to follow the advice of their doctors ... somehow you have to shed that feeling of responsibility or it weighs you down.  Big hugs for you both ((hugs)).

As for 'So' ... you So-and-so ... please ask Moira to give you a spanking, or put you on the naughty step or do something suitably severe to knock it out of your system before Father Christmas refuses to bring your presents.   ;)

  • By the way @punkdoc ... please don't give Boris the idea that meetings can be conducted from your bed ... or heaven knows what photographs we'll be treated to 😱🤮

  • Morning everyone,  happy solstice to one and all. Here's hoping we can get away from this unremitting grey and dull weather I'm sure we will all benefit from a bit of sun. If you have any spare @Pat E send it here please.

Morning all - happy solstice indeed.  Should have been going to a “burning the clocks” parade in Brighton tonight.  Its been cancelled, but definitely one for my calendar next year.  It is a parade of paper lantern clocks thru the streets of Brighton, culminating with burning them all on the beach, to celebrate the fact that the shortest day is behind us.  A sentiment that I can rally behind.

Instead we had a fun, Covid safe, evening yesterday.  Some private houses in the area make a special effort with their outside decorations in order to raise money for our local hospice.  There is a map and you drive round admiring their ingenuity (and wondering about their December leccy bill 🤣).  Some lovely gold and white wonderlands, and some multicoloured extravaganzas, with more giant inflatable snowmen than you could shake a stick at ⛄️.  A text donation to the hospice and everyone was happy - and we never had to leave the car 🚗
