Good morning Forkers.  Bright and sunny but perishing cold and we had a frost this morning.

Agree about the steaming @punkdoc.  Bit of eucalyptus and/or menthol oil in the water will help unbung you.  I had to steam our kittens when they had double cat flu - both bacterial and virus - so even vets recommend it.   Must be a relief that MIL has settled.

Have fun at the market @tui34. I have to stay in this morning to wait for a parcel but we may go to an Xmas market at Talmond St Hilaire later - one of Richard Lionheart's favourite castles, now in ruins but home to jousting and falconry displays in summer.

Pleased you have the girls home @chicky.   Enjoy!   Another grandchild @Hostafan1!  Exciting.  Safe journey @Dovefromabove.  Fingers crossed @Allotment Boy.

Have a lovely day everyone and stay safe.

  • Glad MIL seems content @punkdoc ... that'll be a huge relief to you all.  Sorry your're still snotty ... it'll pass, eventually.  Stay warm and smothered with Vicks.

Glad you've got them all under your wing again @chicky

    Gorgeous pic @uff

    Hugs to you @Hostafan1

Afternoon folks, Been finishing housework this morning.  Covid result was negative so the sleepless night I had worrying was a waste of time.  All set for tomorrow now.
    Have a good weekend everyone.

Afternoon all.  Sorry the cold is back @punkdoc, but good news about Moira.
Glad you've got your chicklets back @chicky
Another lovely grandchild on its way @Hostafan1!
Parcels arriving steadily now - losing track of what I have bought for whom...
So problematic when daughter/husband ask what I want.  At the age when really all I want is a happy family time, eating good food, sharing memories, playing games... But hopefully I'll be opening  a new pair of secateurs and a good face cream.  And after careful consideration I have asked OH for a plate rack, made to measure to fill in the gap that was always destined for a plate rack and to release a cupboard currently housing the plates for other things.  He has balked at the likely cost until now but has agreed it will be our joint present to each other.

Did anyone watch the programme on Ch4 last night about PIP?

  • @Yviestevie, good news,  hope all goes ahead smoothly.  Managed an hours digging on the plots today,  hope the elbow doesn't flare up again.
Best wishes to all those who need it.

  • Hello all … I’m home again laden with goodies. Lovely to see @WonkyWomble … when I got back I saw the lights on and found the door unlocked and thought I’d been an ‘old person’ and just left in the car without locking up properly … 😱

… then I found that OH had been sent home early as it was a ‘slow day’. Phew 😅

Hello all, we're back home as well, after our very enjoyable Xmas lunch with  friends at a large canalside pub. Only one couple pulled out citing Covid worries. I do like a lovely hot turkey dinner with all the trimmings. The dessert, a tiny individual Xmas pud with custard also came with a scoop of lemon sorbet and was scrumptious. Very pleased to see the pub was well supported, they certainly need the custom.

It was colder out today and misty so glad we got back before it got dark. On the way home we managed to refill the car with petrol at 136.9 which is a bargain in these parts and we also stopped at a garden centre so OH could get me a Xmas presie - I asked for National Garden Gift vouchers as I couldn't think of anything else I wanted. They'll come in handy when I re-stock a flower bed next spring.

Glad you had a negative test @Yviestevie, hope the op goes well and glad you had a good day out @Dovefromabove.
Sorry to hear you're not so good today @Punkdoc, OH swears by a hot toddy.
Good to hear your girls are home for the festivities @Chicky, mine's not arriving until Xmas Eve.  She had her booster a fortnight ago but she's much older than yours.

Thankfully, I'm not cooking tonight so I'll watch Strictly I think, haven't watched it so far but curious to see how Rose does. We'll have a snack later if needed.

    Evening.

Just popping in whilst awaiting Strictly result...

Did an early SM run today and then wrapped some gifts. I’m dangerously low on sticky tape but only one more to wrap I think.

    Take care all.
