  • Goodness meย  ... that's a lot of lights !!! :open_mouth:ย  B)

Well, I'm back from the farm shop and butcher ... and everything that must be kept cooler than the garage is packed into the small freezer and two fridges ... just ... I'm not sure why I ordered two small wholemeal loaves when I happily make our bread ... probably a case of 'just in case-itis' ............... I've frozen them and maybe I can send DS home with one when he visits on Christmas Day. We have enough meat, fish, fruit and veg to last a month ... now all I have to do is wrap OH's present. As we both have birthdays near Christmas we buy each other little presents and then treat ourselves to a night or two away somewhere nice but not too far away in the spring ... it didn't happen last year of course, but hopefully we can sort something out this year ๐Ÿคž

I've just had 'one of those' phone calls from a gentleman with a very strong accent who struggled to pronounce my name ... when I established which person he was asking for I said they were in a meeting with the Chief Constable and somehow he'd been put through to the Central Police Canteen ... would he like to speak to a policeman? There was a bit of a silence ... then No, no, no ................ and the linewent deadย ย ๐Ÿ˜‚

I was just going to post the above when the phone rang again ... cousin phoning with Christmas Greetings and to update me on his life ... his marriage ended a while back and it hit him hard ... now he has a lady friend who sounds as if she suits him down to the ground ... he certainly sounded more cheerful and positive than I've heard him for a good while. That's really good newsย  :Dย

    Hello all,

Just back from the dentist with the new crown fitted and eye-watering bill duly paid.
Had a quick with the dentist about having possibly four more crowns replaced but nearly fainted when he mentioned the likely cost. Need to win the lottery first methinks. OH says he'll start saving for next year's birthday present!

It's still overcast with a biting easterly wind. Had a long walk home via Tesco's for last minute bits and more Sellotape. Bags were heavy so rather wished I hadn't.

Glad to hear that Moira's back @Punkdoc, sounds as though she needs lots of tea (or something stronger) and sympathy so hopefully you're making a big fuss of her, despite your cold. I'm not surprised she's rather tearful, I was too after my mum had to go into care, you know it's for the best but it's still really, really hard.

Lovely photo @chicky, no doubt I'll be driving my daughter around and through Bath next week, she loves looking at the lights.ย

    Hello all.

That was an original response to a cold call @Dovefromabove :Dย

I hopeย @Yviestevieย managed to sleep and isn't in too much pain.

Yesterday my 2 daughters and families came back here for lunch. I roasted 2 chickens and a load of potatoes, had broccoli and courgettes too and it almost all went. Just enough left for chicken noodle soup. Louise's children hadn't seen my house. The children all played hide and seek while the parents talked and we went out for a walk across the fields. It was a lovely day, but the ground was still frozen from the frosts.

Here is photo of a blue sky for @Allotment Boy to be going on with.

That's good news @Yviestevie - a relief that it is now done.ย  I hope you have been armed with good pain relief and that your Christmas will be pain and care free!
Hope you and Moira can relax in each other's company and soothe each other's stresses @punkdoc.
That parade sounds lovely @chicky - what a shame it has to be cancelled.ย  I think once this is over - if this is ever over - bunting made from old facemasks (washed!) should be hung up in every town!ย  Then taken down and ceremoniously burnt.
Parcel from the NHS arrived this morning - OMG is it a LFT sent through track and trace (I don't think they even do that any more do they?).ย  No - it's a bowel screening kit. That will be fun.

Hi folks, thanks for all your good wishes.ย  I'm doing OK.ย  Pain relief is working and I've managed a shower this morning and changed all my dressings.ย  Secondborn is coming tomorrow and I'm ordering a takeout brunch from a local cafe so looking forward to that.ย  So many aches and pains have disappeared since the op and sickness has disappeared.ย  I'm feeling very fortunate.ย ย

It's not quite as much fun as it used to be ... at least my last one wasn't ...ย

I'll leave you to it @Dovefromabove, I've seen that film so many times. I did love it though.

Just got the wood in and made chicken noodle soup.
